AP Exclusive: Taxes Could Flow with Dakota Access Pipeline

Source: AP

March 01, 2017 02:27 PM

North Dakota stands to gain more than $110 million annually in tax revenue after oil begins coursing through the Dakota Access pipeline, an analysis by The Associated Press shows.

The calculation shows the potential payoff for a state whose officials have supported the pipeline despite concerns from Native American tribes and other opponents who fear it could harm drinking water and sacred sites. The money the state stands to make in just one year far outstrips the $33 million in costs to police a section of the pipeline that's been the subject of intense and sometimes violent protests over the last year.

"The amount of the windfall to the state doesn't surprise me at all," said Payu Harris, an American Indian activist and pipeline opponent. "That's why the state of North Dakota expended the resources they did."

Well... well... well... So the truth is out regarding the Republican Governor being so pro-DAPL.
It ALWAYS is about money, greed and power.

Posters Edit: "sometimes violent protests" were by the police not the water protectors.

which would really keep the farmers busy. And we could also have biodegradable plastic.

But the rich oil companies need even more money. They don't care about the people or the planet at all. Just the profits!

You Republicans don't have Obama to work out a deal with BP, like he did with the Gulf oil disaster.

He got 700 billion from that oil company. If not for his extraordinary Leadership the gulf would still be a poison hellhole.

p/s had to edit to add, your Republican Cheneys profit Corp. made the 'seal' that blew out starting the gulf disaster, by Rights all you Republicans should pay every American for the damages your policies created.

Have your insurancepay us.

...The tax breaks they gave to the businesses as a sweetener to get the most campaign money, consideration of certain contractors and suppliers, and better kickbacks?

I doubt they get half the money they projected. There will always be some reason that the pipeline will have cost overruns and other financial "issues" that will end up affecting the actual tax revenue...
