GOP senator demands more info from Trump on wiretapping claims

Source: The Hill

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.) on Saturday called on President Trump to release information backing up his bombshell accusation that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower during the campaign.

“We are in the midst of a civilization-warping crisis of public trust, and the President’s allegations today demand the thorough and dispassionate attention of serious patriots," Sasse said in a statement.

The GOP senator said that Trump's "very serious allegations" require he release more information.

Sasse noted that any such wiretap would have taken place with authorization from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA), unless it took place without authorization.

8. Trump's claim of Obama's supposed wiretapping is way to get the BIG investigation.

Make tRump pay for his small stupidity in accusing Obama by using his accusation to trigger a much larger investigation into the Russian scandal.

Hey Republicans, the Minority President made a serious allegation against your common foe. Investigate the whole ball of wax.

Of course, Obama did not order wiretaps or see/hear the results. Officials in the Justice Department are empowered to do that and it seems that they did.

needs to show proof, but he does not.

And remember, Fake News is anything that does not flatter and praise him. He is truly the most insecure, childish adult of whom I have ever been aware.

11. Sasse is different from most GOP in Congress -- he's smart

Sasse has a doctorate in history from Yale.

Of course, he's a hyperreligious homeschooler, which is why he is still part of the GOP delegation.
But most of the GOP, like Chaffetz and Nunes and Pence, are total mediocrities, in addition to being in the pockets of the GOP coalition of the super-wealthy, corporations, and hate-inspired identity-politics voters.

Good for Sasse that he's smart enough to be the first off the sinking ship. But America, and the GOP, will not be fixed until Fox News is not trusted and there is much less money in politics.
