MILWAUKEE —
A fifth grade teacher who lives in Milwaukee is accused of having sexual contact with an 11-year-old boy.

Katherine Gonzalez is charged with First Degree Child Sexual Assault.

Prosecutors said Gonzalez and one of her fifth grade students had been messaging on SnapChat. They eventually had contact in Gonzalez's car and at her home, according to a criminal complaint.

Fucking hate it. Because there will be -- maybe here, maybe on the comments section of some local news site -- some troglodyte that says "huh huh heheh lucky boy" or some such.

These are children, and they are being abused by people in power. Girls, boys, teachers, priests, coaches. I feel so badly for them, and this woman needs to be locked up. Sadly, history shows that female sexual offenders typically get lighter sentences than males, and it's doubly sickening because of the extra aspect of shame that male victims of sexual abuse/rape/molestation face.

and knows the consequences but still decides it's worth abusing a child who is too young to know any better? Really? She thought through it and still decided to do it?

Gonzalez allegedly told the victim that she did not want anyone to know about their relationship because she could go to jail and lose her job.

Gonzalez told police that the victim is "chronically depressed." She admitted saying a lot of things to the boy to make him happy. She wanted the boy to see that someone cared, according to her interview with police.

Is it mental illness?

Do they have some means for protecting the child or getting him some sort of therapy?

I'm not surprised people have a hard time accepting this but women can be pedophiles, too. No one would be asking questions if this were a male teacher sexually abusing a child. She needs to be locked up and the victim will need a lot of help.

What goes wrong in a human brain that would cause them to see a child as a sexual object? Please don't get your knickers in a twist but mores and physiology have changed over time.
Once, 12 was considered the right age for girls to marry and bear children. When I was a child, 12 was the age of consent in some states. May still be, for all I know. Among the ruling classes, boys and girls could be married as babies. Husband and wife might grow up together. Today, I think it's common knowledge that little girls are menstruating at younger ages than in the past...8 years old is not uncommon. I have no idea of sexuality in boys but I do think we need to figure this out. Perhaps it is an epigenetic problem...wrong thing got switched on or off? I cannot believe pedophilia is a 'choice'.
