Jeff Sessions says he didn't mislead Congress in testimon

Source: cnn

Attorney General Jeff Sessions defended his response to Sen. Al Franken in his confirmation hearing saying his answer was "correct," in a letter released by the Justice Department Monday, because he "did not mention communications (he) had had with the Russian Ambassador over the years because the question did not ask about them."
Sessions said in the letter he "spoke briefly" to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July 2016, and he met with Kislyak in his office in September.
He said he does not remember talking about the campaign.

It was on a Tuesday - the forecast was for intermittent showers - the lunch special at Ryan's Diner was creamed chicken - I had my ears done - and rounded out the day with a mint julep - so, NO I didn't met with Mr. Kislyak!

5. so, any volunteered lie is "correct" as long as the question didn't ask directly about it?

so sessions could have said, "also, i'm not a racist, i'm an 8-foot tall hispanic girl, the earth is flat, disco is the best form of music, and generalissimo francisco franco is not dead", and by his logic that's all correct because franken didn't ask him about all that?

It does not matter that he was not answering the question asked. He volunteered false testimony. And this asshole is now the Nation's AG.

That's on him. The specifics of the question became irrelevant as soon as he offered up an untruth that wasn't even the point of the quiestion.
