McCain on Trump's wiretap claim: 'I haven't seen anything like this'

Source: Politico

Sen. John McCain on Monday demanded the release of any evidence backing up President Donald Trump's claim that President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower in the run-up to the presidential election, blasting the White House’s refusal to answer additional questions about the matter.

McCain said the American people “have a right to know on what basis the president of the United States said that his predecessor had broken the law by wiretapping Trump Tower.”

“I haven't seen anything like this,” the Arizona Republican told reporters, explaining that the Trump administration “should answer questions.”

“The American people should demand it,” McCain continued. “The dimensions of this are huge.”

Trump is a rubberstamp for the Republicans. He's promised to go along with some Republican wish list items, if they back his wish list items.

It's not required to hate Republicans or people whose views differ on some issues. Reasonable people can differ on some issues. McCain is a moderate and not one of the rightwingnut crowd.

because they vote along party lines. BOTH parties do. He votes Republican. But he is an old-time regular Republican and not one of the alt-right or Tea Partiers. He came out against torture, against one of more of the wars, as I recall, and has defended Obama publicly against those who claimed he was a Muslim & such.

I recognize a stand-up guy when I see him. It's hard to go against the crowd. How many Dems do you see who have come out against a Democratic Party issue? There would be some % who are against some Dem Party issues, but few publicly go against them, because it would cost them votes. It's a brave thing to go against your party. IMO.

Susan Collins votes Republican. But she is one of the few Republicans brave enough to state the obvious about Trump: He is unfit for office. None of the male Republicans would say it. She also voted AGAINST DeVos. True, her vote didn't count. But the fact remains that she did vote against DeVos, and we all know that Trump will remember that.

I like Collins, too...for a Republican. I just don't hate people who don't agree with all my views, I guess.

And you owe me an apology for implying that I do.

John McCain and Susan Collins vote the way their party wants them to; that is a fact. I don't think McCain is a stand up guy.....his Sarah Palin pander to the base and his "bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" joke did it for me. I don't hate him, but I don't view him with rose colored glasses either.

One vote against DeVos does not erase all the hundreds of other party line votes Collins has cast. if you want to judge these folks by what they say, and ignore 99% of their voting record fine. I'm not that easily charmed. And, once again, you owe me an apology for insinuating that I hate people who disagree with me. For instance, I don't hate you.

No, I don't owe you an apology. One belongs to a party to support the part platform, so most SHOULD vote the way their party wants them to, and in actuality, most WANT to vote in support of their party. Most Dems vote to support their party's platform.

One vote against DeVos doesn't change things, but it's more than MOST Republicans did, and something most Dems don't do...vote against the Prez's nominee. Most people of both parties don't do that. So kudos where kudos are due.

Imagine if a Democratic senator or rep had been offended by something Obama had done, and stated publicly he was unfit for office. Not a usual thing for someone in a party to do. Collins did just that re Trump. That is a strong stance. Trump will remember it.

I owe you no apology for stating that you hold someone's vote against them for voting to support their party's platform. I do not. That's WHY they belong to that party, whatever the party may be.

I didn't say YOU hate them, anyway. I said I DON'T hate them.

You owe me an apology for misrepresenting what I said.

There aren't many others who are doing that.

He's a good guy. He IS Republican, so those are his policies, but disregarding political party, he's a fairly honest, legit politician. He also took a stand against torture, against some of the wars, and against the crazy birtherism and wacko talk about Obama being an Arab and Muslim and such.

Putting aside your presidential campaign in which you sold your soul to the worst of the right-wing nuts -- you endorsed and supported Trump even after he mocked you and your military service, even after all of his racist, bigoted, sexist crap. (Yes he "revoked" it at the very end after the pussy-grab video, but I don't consider that worthy of praise.)

You haven't seen anything like this? Trump was fucking nuts before he took office and now you're surprised that he's still fucking nuts? GTFO.

It came out of the deranged paranoid mind of a wingnut RW hate radio host Mark Levin, and Brietbart News that published it as some kind of alt. fact. And then Bannon whispered it into the ear of Donald, a paranoid megalomaniac himself, before he went to bed. So he stayed up fuming, until he just had to tweet out his manufactured outrage.
