Graham ready to subpoena for Trump wiretap information

Washington (CNN)Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday he is ready to subpoena the intelligence agencies for evidence that would prove President Donald Trump's claims that he was wiretapped last year by then-President Barack Obama.

Asked by CNN if he would subpoena for any evidence, the South Carolina Republican said, "Yes."

"All I can say is that the country needs an answer to this. The current President has accused the former President of basically wiretapping his campaign," Graham said, one day after he joined Trump for a one-on-one lunch at the White House.

Graham and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat, sent a letter to FBI Director James Comey and the acting deputy attorney general Wednesday, requesting any information regarding Trump's claims.

The President of the United States has the full authority to declassify anything. If there is evidence, then the president should release it. He doesn't need Congress to subpoena anything.

It's a shot across the bow at the intelligence agencies. All the Repugs need to do is muddy the waters, and introduce doubt about CIA and NSA actions and thereby get control over the narrative that's out there about 45, Russia, corruption etc. I think in other words, that they are going to try to make it look like the CIA did do it, is lying about it and is covering it up. Like I said, Benghazi.

It's part of undoing every institution.

If its the higher ups in Congress it could explain their stonewalling a great deal as they dont want to go to jail but if it was only Trump the worst that could happen is they get Pence who they would probably prefer.
