Tea Party Leader Tears Apart House Health Plan: Prices Will 'Skyrocket'

Jenny Beth Martin, a co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots, said on Thursday morning that she's not happy with the House Republican bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, arguing that it will increase health insurance costs even further.
"If it passes the way it is presented right now, the hard working taxpayers of this country will be forgotten once again," Martin told CNN's "New Day" after saying that the House bill will prompt health insurance prices to "skyrocket."
She said that she's been receiving hundreds of emails from fellow Tea Party menbers, and the majority are concerned about the bill.
"People are reminding me that we've stood in the snow, in the rain, in the hot summer heat again and again and again to oppose Obamacare, to work to get it repealed and to stand for health care freedom. What we're seeing out of the House of Representatives is not what we expected when we voted for majorities in the House and Senate, who promised us they would repeal Obamacare," Martin told CNN.

Oh wait...are YOU going to lose your ACA and NOW you figure what you've helped along will be horrible?? That's too fucking bad and in the end FUNNY....

(1,606 posts)It seems that she's advocating total repeal and no replacement and is not the least bit concerned about losing ACA. Actually, I can't imagine any hardcore bagger complying with the mandate. Instead, they are likely covered under employer plans or are foregoing insurance altogether. And so far as the 20-25 millions of others who have benefitted from the ACA, they don't care one flying duck about them.

(6,931 posts)There were two plans in their thinking.....Obamacare and the ACA.

(92,116 posts)If they repeal the ACA, and either don't replace it, or replace it with something inferior, I hope they are the ones that receive the worst impact and injury from their actions. No group is more deserving of it

(22,651 posts)alone. sure 20 million sign on to insurance plans through healthcare.gov and about 100 million get their insurance from TV ads, through work or other ways.
ALL INSURANCE HAS TO FOLLOW THE ACA PROTECTION LAWS but only we who got our insurance through healthcareDOT gov have someone, employees to call who watch out for us that Insurance Corps FOLLOW the ACA laws.

(45,411 posts)because a lot of regular people are going to get shafted by any Republican plan. Keep costs low then you don't have coverage regulations and they will refuse payment for care. Keep taxes low and you don't have money for community health clinics or emergency rooms.
A good portion of people will be unhappy no matter what, but the ACA does seem to be the biggest compromise we could expect to get that helps the most stakeholders. The liberal plan would be Medicare for all. The conservative plan is die quickly unless you have money.

Allow Insurance companies to sell catastrophic policies with deductibles of between $25,000 - $50,000!!!

(810 posts)Wow!
Have they not been paying attention? Republicans have, by-and-large, been trying to increase the number of poor and indigent with every fiber of their being. Pick any policy that will improve the lot of the poor or middle-class and they're response is, in a nutshell, "Fuck 'em!".
And Republicans are not shy about it, either. They've repeatedly said what they're planning on doing and the rubes that voted for them didn't seem to care. Now when it starts to affect them they're all up in arms.
To anyone who voted Republican: We tried to warn you, but you wouldn't listen.

(67 posts)Tea Party morons will find their small town hospitals closing, their insurance gone, or priced beyond their ability to afford it, their rivers, lakes and streams polluted, their paychecks going down, their social security checks reduced, their children and grandchildren serving in the military fighting hopeless and needless wars, and their taxes increased to pay for the tax breaks being given to the rich and powerful. Good luck to them.
