Sources: Kansas governor Sam Brownback in talks with Trump administration about an ambassadorship

Source: THE KANSAS CITY STAR

09 MAR 2017 AT 09:35 ET

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is in talks with President Donald Trump's administration about taking an ambassadorship position, according to sources close to the governor.

No offer has been extended yet, according to the Kansas City Star's sources, but the Republican governor has discussed the possibility of taking a position as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations for food and agriculture, a position that would move the Midwestern governor to Rome.

It has been rumored since November that Brownback, who is close with Vice President Mike Pence, could land a job in the Trump administration, but the governor has been tight-lipped about his prospects.

Kansas Public Radio reported Wednesday afternoon that Brownback was poised to be named ambassador, citing an unnamed source who called it a "done deal."

His Lieutenant Gov will take his place but I'd rather take my chances with him that the LOON we have in Brokeback. ZERO income tax rates to Corps and LLC's since Jan 2013 and Kansas was supposed to explode with growth.

Instead it's imploding and will have a Billion $$ budget shortfall by June 2018.

Not sure how much charm he has nor at this point do most people care. They just want this disaster turned around and that includes a LOT of Republicans.

was, Brownback has charm?" His response, "No." It was a joke kind of. We are in as bad a place as we were before with Colyer. I would wager only about 200 people in this state even know who he is. It is going to be a very big come down when he takes over and people thinking things will change. UNLESS they stick to the plan that they stupidly said in public way way back at the beginning of the demise of the state of Kansas. Hit them hard now, do all the bad stuff now and make it as bad as you want but 2 years before the next election save them a little bit so they think you are the big heros saving them from Sammy and BOOM you get right back in. People in this state have been Koched for at least 30 years, that R is sacred. We will see. If they nominate a weak, quiet, non committal person like Paul Davis from the last time (he is itching to run again) it is over. If they go full in with a pro life Dem, many of those thinking of running are pro life Dems, they lose the women's vote. We need a real Dem with a loud and proud mouth and money so people west of Manhattan know they are running. This, "Whoa honey. Did you know there was a Democrat running for governor? Lord be!" right before they make their mark is not going to cut it. I know it is being worked on really hard but....there are a few really good people running. No women so far for governor I don't think. We do have a very big chance to do this this time but I worry way too much. It is looking really bad out there already, I cannot imagine what 4-8 more years of this will do.

this past November. Still not enough, but it was a step in the right direction. And, Davis only lost by 30,000 votes in 2014.

It wasn't that long ago that Kansas had Sebellius as Governor.

Yeah, we had her alright. She was OK, at least it was not horrible with crisis at every turn. Nice lady. Davis should have lost by every vote. He turned on the LGBT citizens of this state and many of them had worked their asses off for him. If he runs again we lose again and I will never vote for someone who turns against citizens. Pro women, pro LGBTQ, pro racial equality those issues are far more important to me than most of the others. Who cares if the economy is stable if only select people can participate in it? He turned his back on them. Done.

It's surprising that Brownback's tea party experiment in Kansas hasn't received more media coverage. Could it be that it was always about redistribution of wealth upward, no matter the cost to everyone else? Trickle down economics is a scam with no basis in fact, and now Brownback is ready to move on to bigger and better economies to wreck. He fits right in with the Tump team of money-grabbers.
