Spicer: 'I Don't Know' If Trump Knew Flynn May Have Acted As A Foreign Agent

Source: Talking Points Memo

By MATT SHUHAM Published MARCH 9, 2017, 2:04 PM EDT

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Thursday that he did not know whether President Donald Trump had known that Mike Flynn worked as a foreign agent in a capacity that may have benefitted the Turkish government during the presidential campaign.

On Tuesday, Flynn and his firm registered with the Justice Department for $530,000 of lobbying work from August through November 2016 that "could be construed to have principally benefited the Republic of Turkey. I don't believe that that was known,” Spicer told Fox News' John Roberts during a press briefing, saying Roberts should talk to Flynn or the Department of Justice.

"Was the President aware that Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn was acting as a foreign agent when he appointed him to be the national security adviser?" Roberts had asked. He followed up: “Had the President had known that, would he have appointed him?”

“I don't know, John, that's a hypothetical I'm not prepared to ask,” Spicer replied. “I don't know what he discussed prior to being appointed in terms of his background, his resume, his client base. I don't know any of that. I know that from what I have read that he has filed the appropriate forms with the Department of Justice, and I think you should ask him and subsequently them if you have questions about the specific filing."

Spicer: GOP Health Care Plan Will Get To Trump's Desk And He Will Sign It

By CAITLIN MACNEAL Published MARCH 9, 2017, 2:01 PM EDT

During the White House press briefing on Thursday afternoon, Press Secretary Sean Spicer signaled that the administration is committed to the legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare unveiled by House leadership earlier this week.

"This bill will land on the President's desk. He will sign it. We will repeal Obamacare and put in place a system patient-centered that will allow the American people to have greater choice and lower costs," Spicer told reporters after several questions about what parts of the bill President Donald Trump is willing to have changed.

One reporter noted that some conservatives have been pushing for return to a 2015 repeal bill that was vetoed by former President Obama, but Spicer suggested the White House was not looking at any options other than the House leadership's bill.

"I think the effort that's going through right now is the vehicle that's got—is what people are on board with," he said.

Turkey just threatened us because our military is working with the Kurds against IS. Makes total sense for them to do that now that their inside boi isn't on the job anymore.

If that process misses such basic information as the National Security Advisor candidate having represented a foreign government as their agent. How much more basic can it get than that.
