Booker: GOP can't force Obamacare replacement 'down our throats'
Source: CNN
Washington (CNN)The Republican plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act is a "bad policy" that will harm lower-income people, Sen. Cory Booker said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."
"The Republicans cannot just force this down our throats," the New Jersey Democrat told anchor Jake Tapper. "It's going to knock a lot of folks off, hurt long-term care, hurt good working-class folks. So, I don't understand this all."
"I don't understand what their political strategy because this is bad politics," he added. "But deeper than that, it's bad policy and bad process."
Since its introduction this week, legislation from top House Republicans to repeal and replace former President Barack Obama's signature health care law has drawn significant opposition from lawmakers and a range of health care leaders and industry stakeholders, including major doctors and hospital groups.

It is about time that some of the progressive members of the party start getting some air time on cable media, and be allowed to attack Republicans, rather than just attack other Democrats.

First - get the Russians out of the US (most of the hacking happened from their country not ours.)
Second - declare Trump's election null & void.
Third - declare Obama is still POTUS and back in office until a new & real election happens.
***The SCOTUS can do this ***
How long will that take? I don't know, probably at least 2 years.
But if we don't start now, it will never happen.
Democracy is dead.

If the Government gave everyone who had an IRA $2-4k per year you would definitely be paying taxes on those credits when withdrawn from your IRA.

NORTHFORK, W. Va. Another morning, another list of patients and problems in the hands of 35-year-old Keisha Saunders. Diabetes, depression, heart disease. Robert needs lower blood pressure. Buffy needs prescriptions filled. Mary needs to lose 50 pounds, so she can get what she really needs, a new hip.
Again, the list extends to the bottom of Keishas notepad, as it has so many days since the Affordable Care Act mandated that everyone have health insurance. Unlike in Washington, where health care is a contentious policy debate, health care where Keisha is a nurse practitioner is a daily need to be filled. The high rates of chronic diseases in McDowell County have made it the county with the shortest life expectancy in the nation.
Its also a place that voted overwhelmingly for President Trump, whose promise to repeal the ACA will soon affect nearly every patient Keisha treats at the Tug River health clinic in Northfork, including the one waiting for her in exam room No. 2.
* * *
Because of the ACA, Clydes visit is covered by Medicaid. Before the law, most West Virginians without children or disabilities could not qualify for Medicaid, no matter how poor they were. The ACA better known here as Obamacare expanded the program to cover more people, such as Clyde, who can depend on Keisha to fix his heartburn without having to worry about the cost.

(28,858 posts)So far, they've forced a LOT of other bad shit down our throats!
Thus, even if this bill doesn't pass, all that other bad stuff is still
going to screw us!
This healthcare bill is like the ultimate distraction because it affects
so many personal lives of white Reeps, so it's getting a lot of
traction.
But what the white Reeps didn't care about is still going to screw us!

(1,606 posts)As much as I hope they don't get away with it, I don't want to fool myself. I don't think the odds are in our favor.
I feel like the only hope to scrape by is maybe some states will include state-run programs in the budget, in the meantime.
And its not like the really poor/disabled are going to have the means to pack up and move to a state with healthcare. So many stand to die from this. It's just so amoral.
