LINCOLN An angry and disruptive crowd that packed a high school commons area on Monday loudly urged U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry to reject the Republican plan to replace the Affordable Care Act.

Fortenberry, a Republican who represents the states 1st District, was often interrupted and had to regularly ask the crowd to please be quiet as he defended his stance that the existing ACA, or Obamacare, isnt fair for everyone and should be replaced.

The system now is deeply, deeply flawed and broken, Fortenberry said. We cant sustain the current system.

Improved health care outcomes and lower cost must be the goal of a new system, he said.

Know What Makes Nebraskans Confrontational? Threaten to Take Away Their Obamacare!

Responding to a flood of constituent requests to his office, US Congressman Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraskas 1st District gave just three days notice to the public of a community town hall on Monday, 3/14/17 at 5:30 pm in Lincoln.

800+ Nebraskans showed up.

Usually the only time that many Nebraskans will show up in one place on such short notice in 29-degree weather is if the event involves helmets and pigskins.

Seats in the foyer of Nebraskas largest high school, Lincoln Southwest, were filled 20 minutes before the event started. Standing room only was left for the 100 or so people who came in just before Congressman Fortenberry took the microphone.

with a Senator's staffer. They hold these periodically and this is the first one I have been able to attend. But, everyone here is capable of calling, emailing or posting to their Representatives Facebook pages. There is no excuse for not doing at least something.

for these town meetings, that someone take a wooden barrel, stencil the word"tar" on it, then get a feather pillow or two, and sit on the front row.

Which I find interesting, and then there was no mic for the audience to ask questions, I had contacted his office requesting a town hall, I'm glad he had least had the guts to show up, unlike my two idiot senators.

Peace

We lived in Lincoln from 1994-2000. Fortenberry was just getting known at that point, running for office in Lincoln in the city council, I think. He was an a$$hole back then and he's still an a$$hole.

Lincoln is also located in one of the most right wing dioceses in the country of the Catholic church. They excommunicated a Catholic city council member
who didn't speak out against Planned Parenthood when we lived there. I'm pretty sure Fortenberry was a member of a parish in that diocese. He was
a real self-righteous di*k.

Mar 2017

at EVERY meeting "Why can't we have the healthcare YOU have?" OR "Will you be signing on to this plan?" We need Universal Healthcare just like other CIVILIZED countries.

That's the ticket - put them on the spot.
They haven't got an answer because they know their coverage is so much better.

"What are you doing about the rising costs of HC? Why would you get rid of ACA/cut Medicaid/charge seniors more as they age, when the real problem is rising costs? Do you support importing cheaper drugs from Canada and elsewhere for Medicare and other fed programs? If not, why not? Are you OK with an insurance co's "allowed charge" of $23K/one chemo IV drip of decades-old drugs (taken home for the infusion), when NIH states real cost is $3600 for same?" etc.

The statistic is straight from my medical statements vs. an NIH site showing cost of my chemo.
