Irish PM shames Trump with stirring tribute to immigrants, as the president stands right next to him

Source: RawStory

BRAD REED
17 MAR 2017 AT 10:48 ET

Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny used his time spent at the White House on St. Patrick’s Day to issue a subtle rebuke to President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

Speaking at the White House with Trump standing right next to him, Kenny relayed the long history of Irish immigrants who came to America and thrived there, despite being resented and hated by many.

“It’s fitting that we gather here each year to celebrate St. Patrick and his legacy,” Kenny said. “He, too, was an immigrant. And even though he is, of course, the patron saint of Ireland, for many people around the globe, he is also the symbol of — indeed, the patron of — immigrants.”

Kenny went on to explain that in past centuries, the Irish were “the retched refuse on the teeming shore,” who nonetheless “believed in the shelter of America, in the compassion of America, in the opportunity of America.”

I would like to see him on his knees apologizing to Obama
for both birtherism and the wiretapping charade. I still wouldn't forgive him for the birtherism. He needs to be investigated for lying about his investigators in Hawaii too. Glad Hawaii finally is getting to tell him to fuck off.

He's having a hard time shaking this last lie. He thought he would use it to knock the FISA warrant story down. That worked, unfortunately. This lie gets worse as he or Spicer flippantly accuse more people of aiding in the wiretap. He just doubled down again w Merkel, hitting Obama twice. You could see her best poker face, covering, oh shit. Can this really be happening. I thought we were going to discuss foreign affairs and trade. How can I change the subject without engaging him. Just ignore him is perhaps best, so no eye contact. This, the woman who teared up over losing Obama.

them decently. This is horrific. They are walking through blizzards and losing their limbs to get out, treated like scum, abused. This is not the land of opportunity that we were a year ago, and it will be a long time before that will be changed, long after DTs gone. The laws are not the same.
Yes, their circumstances are worse where they are, but they are not welcome here, legally and by the powers that be. Our Statue of Liberty is bleeding. Our Pres is regarded as a sociopath worldwide. Every world news says, he is either a liar or can't tell the difference. He absolutely cannot be depended on, and neither can the US for anything, even past treaties. His immigration policies are in litigation. He is a bold racists. They are arresting people without probable cause. No one has the US on their list now if they are fleeing a bad situation, assuming they could get in anyway.

Many people here are scrambling for passports for Canada, S America, and the EU. Ireland and Canada are overrun with applications.

Trump is a rich spoiled brat (even at 70) and has no sense of shame.

If he had a sense of shame he would have slunk off the world stage decade ago.

His subsequent performance with Angela Merkel is a case in point. He managed to act like a surly 13 year old during much of the visit. Even refusing to shake her hand.
