Anti-Trump billboard along Phoenix road stirs controversy

Source: Fox 10 Phoenix

The billboard stands on the 1000 block of Grand Avenue, and is reportedly the work of a female artist named Karen Fiorito.

On Friday, a post made by an Instagram that purportedly belongs to Fiorito confirms that the design was hers.

This happened today in Phoenix, AZ. My anti-Trump billboard at 1022 Grand Ave. Thanks to Hugh Gran for letting me use his dollar swastikas in my design! #antitrump #theresistance #resist #impeachtrump #dumptrump #trump #donaltrump #trump

The billboard contains a picture of Donald Trump, with mushroom clouds in the background, and dollar signs that bear some resemblance to the swastika on each side.

I can't decide if I want him to die on the toilet with his cell phone in his hand half way through a mindless tweet, or if I want to see him handcuffed in an orange jumpsuit.

insurance promises vs. the bill he is endorsing. Every promise vs. real action deserves billboards where the affected Trumpsters live.

All could have a different caption.

He said he was wiretapped.

He said Rex Tillerson saying all diplomatic options are gone.

He wants 54 Billion more for the DOD.

He wants to cut every program except the Defense Dept.

God this guy is so evil.

They do some good journalism and it's pretty equal. I remember it having some well written and truthful criticism of scrotus during the election when we went last September.

On the highway not far south from where I live, there's an old trailer (as in tractor-trailer, not the one you live in) that some farmer has pulled up close to the interstate.

He actually went to the trouble to paint on the side in big block capitals "ARE YOU A PRODUCER OR A PARASITE? DEMOCRATS - PARTY OF PARASITES!!!

I'm a proud registered Democrat, and I got my first job when I was 13 as a paperboy. I've washed dishes, flipped burgers, worked in a warehouse, done pretty much every scut job you can think of. I paid my own way through college working full-time, and I have damn well earned the right to tell stupid Trump-voting cocksuckers like Lonesome Farmer Gus that they can FUCKING KISS IT!!

Whiny stupid inbred sister-fucking cornbread clown probably never hurried a day in his life, unless it's to the mailbox for another federal crop insurance check . . .

another adviser as a member of a Hungarian Nazi group;

Confederate Sessions in his cabinet;

The support of David Duke;

Support FOR Steve 'cannot rebuild a society with someone else's babies' King.

Paid a wreath-laying homage to Andrew Jackson.

The billboard's only controversial if one ignores or is unaware of all of the above.

Can range from maybe $100 bucks a month in a small town or rural local highway to thousands a month in cities, on major interstates, high profile areas, etc (just imagine what those electronic billboards in Times Square cost).

Laws pertaining to content - this is probably a less important question than 'Will the company that owns the billboard approve it?'. Obviously free speech has its limits in this country so there may be govt intervention in terms of inciting violence, obscenity, etc. But the billboards are owned by companies big (like Clear Channel) and small (like some local person who has one on their property). They don't have to rent to people they don't want to rent to in terms of the content of the design. E.g. they can't discriminate against a person who is black simply because they are black, but they can choose not to allow a political message they don't like.

ETA: In addition to renting the space, there may also be costs associated with artwork/design, of course. But these days anyone with a PC can design an image. Dunno if you'd need special software to get a high enough quality image for that size of print.
