Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, said on Sunday that the committee's chair Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) will "have to be willing to use subpoena power" in the panel's investigation into Russian election-related hacking.
"He's going to have to be willing to use subpoena power, because there will be people we need to bring in before the committee who may not be willing witnesses," Schiff said on NBC News' "Meet the Press." He said that the House Intelligence Committee will "need the power of compulsion" to investigate Russian election-related hacking "credibly."
"Right now we're the only game in town, we and the Senate Intelligence Committee," Schiff said. "We're going to have to do that."
Schiff said that he did not want to "prejudge" the committee's conclusions as to whether there is any basis for allegations of collusion between President Donald Trump's campaign and Russia.

Schiff: Trump's 'Patently False' Wiretap Claims Are 'Wrecking Ball' To US Allies
By ESME CRIBB Published MARCH 19, 2017, 10:27 AM EDT
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Sunday said President Donald Trump's unsubstantiated claims that President Barack Obama "wire tapped" his phones at Trump Tower before the 2016 election have created a "wrecking ball" that is alienating U.S. allies.
"What the President said was just patently false, and the wrecking ball it created now has banged into our British allies and our German allies," Schiff said on NBC News' "Meet the Press."
He said that Trump "needs to put an end" to growing damage resulting from his claims.
"I suspect what's really at root here, Chuck, is this is just how the President does business. Now maybe this is the way he conducted his real estate business, with half-truths and sometimes no truths and a lot of bluster," Schiff said. "That, in my opinion, is no way to run a business, but it's an even worse way to run a country."

-snip-
Appearing on Meet The Press with host Chuck Todd, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) disagreed with a fellow lawmaker who claimed, We need to get to the bottom of this, with Schiff adding, We are at the bottom of this.
We are at the bottom and there is nothing at the bottom, Schiff explained to Todd about Trumps allegations.
Will Director Comey say that definitively tomorrow? Todd asked. I expect that he will and I hope that we can put an end to this wild goose chase, the California Democrat replied. What the president said was just patently false. And the wrecking ball it has created has just banged into our British allies and our German allies and its continuing to grow in terms of damage and he needs to put an end to this.
What is really at root here, Chuck, is that this is just how the president does business, Schiff added. Now maybe this is how he conducted his real estate business with half-truths and sometimes no truths and bluster. In my opinion that is no way to run a business, but its an even worse way to run a country.
