WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on a congressional inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election (all times local):

7 a.m.

President Donald Trump is accusing Democrats of fabricating allegations of election interference against Russia and creating more "fake news."

His tweets came just hours before a congressional hearing on Russia. The House Intelligence Committee will hear from FBI Director James Comey on whether U.S. officials believe Russia tried to bolster Trump's chances in the election and if there were any connections between Moscow and Trump's campaign aides.

Trump tweeted Monday: "The Democrats made up and pushed the Russian story as an excuse for running a terrible campaign. Big advantage in Electoral College & lost!"

BOTH sides thought that Newtown was the the last straw and there would be some kind of legislation passed for firearms,

I told everyone it wasn't happening, because Rs are THAT far gone.

26. Trump's narcissism is so thick they won't get him out of there w/out full Impeachment

Trump will leave in one of three ways:

1) His term ends. I do not see him winning in 2020. Even if he gets a 9/11 event to rally around, he's doomed. He is so repugnant and unlikable, no amount of patriotism and jingoistic terror will save his re-election hopes. W, could be in his own way, charming and likable for enough Americans, Trump has none of that limited charisma.

2) He is Impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate. Maybe this happens before the 2018 mid-terms, to which case the Republicans will do it, or maybe after the Mid-Terms and the Republicans get their teeth kicked in. Both are doubtful to me right now. The GOP is clearly circling the wagons around Trump. Look how much water Gowdy is carrying today in Comey's hearing. He's flopping like a fish to avoid talking about Russia, hacking and wiretapping. No the GOP is very much in a protectionist mode.

As for flipping Congress in 2018, that is not likely. There are 34 Senate seats up, 23 of them are Democratic incumbents. Both independent Senators are up (Sanders and King), so call that 25 liberal seats. There are only two "leans R" elections up (Flake AZ, and Heller NV) that could be possible Democratic upsets, but there are quite a few weak Democrats defending: Nelson of FL, Donnelly of IN, McCaskell of MO, Tester of MT, Heitkamp of ND, Brown of OH, Manchin WV, and Baldwin of WI. That's 8 seats that are going to need a lot of support to hold on to.

And of course the House is a mess thanks to gerrymandering in almost all of the 50 states. Flipping the House will be nearly impossible until after the 2020 Senate and a Democratic wave of Governors between now and then.

3) His ego tires of the abuse and he quits on some made up bullshit that doesn't even make sense to him. He has a history of saying "fuck it" and walking away.

The GOP may be much happier with Pence as POTUS, but the odds they will get that are pretty slim unless Trump is caught, red handed, committing a crime while in office. A crime so heinous that even republican foot soldiers are appalled. Given how morally bankrupt they are, I can't hazard a guess what crime that could be.

It is not my first thought to wish death upon any other person, even if they are against me and what I believe in.

His health and age are pointing at a disastrous conclusion for his life, that is true. I am suddenly reminded of all the concern trolling over Clinton in '92 when he took office and how "fat" he was. There was all these donut jokes and he started jogging because he felt self-conscious (and it was a media ploy) about it. All of that went away when he did shed a few pounds.

Were did all that go with Trump?

W was pretty sporty, if clumsy to the point of near-death, and Obama was/is very fit.

we have had other President's die if office due to health issues...FDR comes to mind first.

Yes, I remember all the hand-wringing about Clinton and the donut jokes and he jogs to McDonalds. But even still, Clinton was 30 years younger than Cheeto and did something about it.
