Rick Perry Blasts 'Diversity' Election of Gay Student Body President at Texas A&M

Source: Mediaite

It is always unusual when senior federal officials weigh in on local elections, but Energy Secretary Rick Perry may have set a new bar for bizarre by blasting the results of a recent student body election at his Alma mater, Texas A&M University.

Perry, who is also a former governor of the state, took to the pages of the Houston Chronicle to slam the election of Bobby Brooks. The Junior from Belton, Texas made history by becoming the first openly gay person to lead the student body.

Brooks finished second to Robert McIntosh, the son of GOP fundraiser Alison McIntosh, but was named the winner after McIntosh was disqualified for violating school election rules.

It didn’t sit well with Perry, who said awarding the election to Brooks smacked of “diversity” politics.

the work is hard, it's very hard work, hard work is ... hard. Time to take a break. OMG! Not only is there a gay in TAMU, he just stole the election to become student body president. I'll now assume my alternate personality -- Wonder Warthog -- and rectify those two errors! Lois. Lois! Bring my mask.

you ain't gov anymore (thank god, although the new halfwit ain't much better) and you certainly ain't president (thank god again) but you are "energy secretary" which means, no one is supposed to hear from you ever again. now go away and do the bidding of clipped wings tillerson and the orange menace.

Your repube successors---particularly Gov. Greg Abbott and the loathsome Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick---are doing a more-than-adequate job of continuously humiliating the State of Texas. They don't need your "help."

Seems a bit of overkill to disqualify the winner for not declaring a few glow sticks in a video as campaign expenditures and providing receipts. I guess he also didn't declare his pants and shirt either, so surprised they didn't DQ him for that as well

Forgetting the fact that Perry is involved, what would be the reaction here if the original winner was the gay student and he was disqualified for the same reasons thus giving the election to the 2nd place vote getter? People here would be livid about how it was fixed on a technicality just to make sure the gay guy didn't win.
