MoveOn.org Files Federal Ethics Complaint Against Rep. Nunes for Violating Espionage Act, House Rule

WASHINGTON, DC MoveOn.org Civic Action today filed a federal ethics complaint with the U.S. House of Representatives Office of Congressional Ethics against Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) for violating the Espionage Act and the Rules of the House by disclosing classified information without the authorization required by House Rules or any other proper authorization. snip
Nunes, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, also briefed the Trump White House on a pending FBI investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, and acknowledged this week that he was on the White House grounds hours before holding a press conference to advance the discredited wiretapping claims. Nunes also neglected to share information with his committee before sharing with the White House and media.
** Read the full complaint here: http://bit.ly/2o2GWp0 **
The disclosure of this information by Chairman Nunes was evidently intended to try to lend some credence to President Trump claims that former President Obama had Trump Tower wiretappedclaims that have been repeatedly been shown to be absolutely baseless, as confirmed by FBI Director Comey in his testimony before Chairman Nunes own committee, the complaint reads. In his quest to assist President Trump politically, however, it appears that Chairman Nunes has committed serious violations of law and House Rules. snip
Devin Nunes reckless and clearly partisan actions prove he lacks the judgment and independence to oversee an investigation into possible collusion between Donald Trump and his associates with the government of Russiaand underscore why an independent commission and special prosecutor are so desperately needed, said MoveOn.org Campaign Director Jo Comerford. Congress must stop all business and focus on the creation of an independent commission and the appointment of a special prosecutor or the American people will never be able to trust that the Trump campaign did not in engage illegal collusion with a foreign government to sabotage a U.S. election.

Reports are that Nunes cannot make a move like going to the WH over a period of two days to discuss intel without approval of Paul Ryan. Ryan won't ask for Nunes' recusal or resignation, so IMO Ryan is suspect.

(18,652 posts)Summary: Nunes invested in "Alpha Omega Winery" in Napa (seems many Kremlin-linked businesses start with "Alfa" or "Alpha" , with Russian distributor Luding Ltd. A Luding Armenian exec. was found shot in his car in Moscow in 2010, just 4 days before a license agreement for "Kremlin Award" cognac was finalized.
snip: "The Presidential Property Management Department of the Russian Federation grants a license to use the Kremlin brand and gets royalties from beverage producers."
Shades of "Trump brand"---exactly how that works, too.
snip: "Luding has a long relationship with the Administrative Services of the President of the Russian Federation."
No wonder Nunes wants to jettison a real Trumprussia investigation.

(16,917 posts)I'm sure after Nunes reports to Drumpf he'll go out to hold a press conference and let us know that there's NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT - nothing to see here, folks, just move along...........

Hopefully the collective WE wont allow that.

(67,086 posts)Just about everything they do IMO is intended to cull the population. Now, with the EPA destruction, they can kill off coal miners and many others. It's endless. And, they will come back and kill off as many as they can when they try to dismantle health care again as well as support services. The poor, disabled, senors and many will be killed off by the republicans if they have their way.

(5,730 posts)It more so for them. Resistance is good, but we must aggressively fight back with all of the legal and ethical tools available too.

(24,683 posts)Every day they run. If I was on the street, and saw these cowards, I would ask. Are you Nunes and Ryan working for a foreign government we basically already know the "guy" is, and oh by the way what did you say to each other (Ryan and Nunes) what was your conversation you both had before you ran over to the "white House-----------I have a right to know, I pay your bills, you Ryan make $223,500 a year, and you Nunes make $220,000 a year
Fess -up because it appears that you both are going down and you both will have to answer some questions

(5,730 posts)the Repubs hell for a change. So often, we analyze very logically& effectively, discuss with eloquence, cuss, complain, but rarely do anything that makes them actually have to hire lawyers, feel some anxiety and fight back.
We have forced them to have skin in the game, after a long reprieve since Bush v Gore.
No free ride this time. Ethics complaints, Legal Disciplinary Complaints (that's their income), Lawsuits, Masses of people showing up at their offices, Jamming their phone lines...although they have effectively shut them down as they leave their voice mail boxes full or say they are closed or away, storming the airports, demonstrating by the millions, and more.
Good for Dems! We are really fighting, not just talking.
Repubs beware.

(5,730 posts)Disciplinary complaints (DC) can have severe penalties for severe ethical violations. Plus, lawyers are held to a higher standard, for good reason. People is those states, go for it. Among all of the other obvious things, add the "Appearance of Impropriety."
There are a few against Sessions.
Unfortunately, Nunes is not a lawyer.

(860 posts)I couldn't help but notice that Nunes' white house escapade bears a strong resemblance to Bertha by the Dead.
Bertha
I had a hard run
Running from your window
I was all night running, running, running
I wonder if you care?
I had a run-in
Run around and run down
Run around a corner
Run smack into a tree
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha don't you come around here anymore
Dressed myself in green
I went down to the sea
Try to see what's going down
Maybe read between the lines
Had a feeling I was falling, falling, falling
Turned around to see
Heard a voice calling, calling, calling
You was comin after me
Back to me
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha don't you come around here anymore
Ran into a rainstorm
Ducked into a bar door
It was all night pouring, pouring rain
But not a drop on me
Test me, test me
Why don't you arrest me?
Throw me in the jail house
Until the sun goes down
Till it go down
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha don't you come around here anymore
