Chris Christie to lead Trump White House drug commission

Source: Washington Post

The White House is launching a new commission to combat drug addiction Wednesday to be overseen by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), who for years has been passionate about the scourge of drug abuse.

Trump and Christie will lead a listening session on the subject at the White House on Wednesday, convening Attorney General Jeff Sessions and several other Cabinet members, drug policy experts and advocates, as well as a recovering addict.

Ending opioid addiction was a centerpiece of Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, as well as Christie's, and advisers say the president is committed to using the powers of his office to raise awareness and develop new policies to tackle the problem.

Christie told the Associated Press that Trump asked him to lead the drug abuse efforts while serving as governor, and that he currently has “no interest in having a permanent role” in the administration.

Sessions and Drumpf totally are supporting opioid addiction because they get lots of $$ from the private prison industry so are opposing all efforts to deregulate marijuana. In Co., when MJ was legalized, opioid addiction and arrests went way way down. Their prisons got so empty, they were finding alternatives uses for them! Great story, but not to these selfish terrors. These 2 assholes don't want that and are doing everything possible to be able to jail the most people so they personally profit. They are totally doing everything they can to destroy the average American, including this so phony dog and pony show. Bet you a million dollars this is all about enforcement and jailing and nothing about helping, it's just who these hate filled people are. Stop and Frisk is probably going to become the law of the land, more arrests, more pain, more people in jail. They will be so happy at the misery they are causing.

"Ending" meaning allowing addicts to die after the repeal of anything to do with programs that promote good health and prevent addiction.
