After Iowa Caucuses, conservative elites to huddle to stop Mitt Romney

A group of movement conservatives has called an emergency meeting in Texas next weekend to find a “consensus” Republican presidential hopeful, POLITICO has learned.

“You and your spouse are cordially invited to a private meeting with national conservative leaders of faith at the ranch of Paul and Nancy Pressler near Brenham, Texas, with the purpose of attempting to unite and to come to a consensus on which Republican presidential candidate or candidates to support, or which not to support,” read an invitation that is making its way into in-boxes Wednesday morning.

The meeting is being hosted by such prominent conservative figures as James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family; Don Wildmon, onetime chairman of the American Family Association; and Gary Bauer, himself a former presidential candidate.

Many of the individuals on the host list attended a previous closed-door session with Rick Perry this summer, but Perry’s candidacy stalled out, and he returned to Texas after a disappointing fifth-place finish in Iowa.

Wallstreet wants Romney rather badly. They know the 2010 grab by the republicans is more of a fluke of midterms and that if the standard bearer for the Republican party is a crazy culture warrior the American people will look at the economy and look at the Republicans legislative agenda and vote for President Obama again.

Worse (or better) still Wallstreet can't count on the blue dogs any longer and if the Democrats secure a majority again despite the slow death of the conservadems then the country will shift to the left a bit more.

A crazy Republican will swing moderates away from crazed choices and may have massive impact down-ticket and it would be good to take advantage of it by promoting progressive programs that will help the country and put people back to work.

weekend may be too late. If they want to stop Romney they need to weaken him Tuesday in New Hampshire.

a big circle--and walk it towards me. Unfortunately they forgot about the backpacks everyone lined up in front of the classroom door, so half of the testudo fell down, but their arms remained linked, so a third of them just ended up balanced diagonally on the backpacks.
