Deal Reached On Funding Government Through Sept

Source: Associated Press

Top Capitol Hill negotiators have reached a hard-won agreement on a huge $1 trillion-plus spending bill that would fund the day-to-day operations of virtually every federal agency through September.

Aides to lawmakers involved in the talks announced the agreement after weeks of negotiations. It's expected to be made public Sunday night.

The catchall spending bill would be the first major piece of bipartisan legislation to advance during President Donald Trump's presidency. It denies Trump a win on his oft-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, but it gives him a $15 billion down payment on his request to strengthen the military.

The measure rejects White House proposals to cut popular programs such as funding medical research and community development grants. It adds $1.5 billion for border security.

$15 billion to the Pentagon is not much.

Meanwhile -- keep Obamacare, keep CDBG and medical research -- and -- best of all: KILL THE WALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has everyone seen the rumors of two federal grand juries being empaneled to hear evidence of:
-- money laundering from Russia mobster through the purchase of Trump condos, and,
-- violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act by members of the Trump mob?

It's just a temporary extension of largely existing funding. There aren't any permanent wins/losses in there.

12. Bipartisan Agreement Reached to Fund Government Through September.

May 2017

'Congressional leaders reached a bipartisan agreement on Sunday to fund the government through September, according to congressional aides from both parties, effectively ending suspense about the possibility of a government shutdown next weekend.

The agreement, which still must be voted on by lawmakers, includes increased funding for the military and for border security, according to two of the aides. It does not include funding for the wall that President Trump wants to build along the border with Mexico, the aides said.

Details of the agreement were not yet public on Sunday night.'>>>

No cuts to any entitlements
$1.5 Bn increase for border security but no barrier extension funds
No cuts to sanctuary cities
No cuts to Planned Parenthood
$2 Bn increase for NIH
$295 Mn for Puerto Rico
Increased renewable energy spending
Increased Pell grants
Funding goes through the end of the FY

The only thing the GOP seems to get is an extra $50 Bn in defense spending which is something Democrats kind of regularly support too.
