Following yesterdays bombshell news of President Donald Trump firing FBI Director James Comey, a number of prominent Democrats have come out with some extremely strong reactions. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stated that Comeys termination looks like a coverup when it comes to the Trump/Russia investigation. Meanwhile, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) indicated that Comeys canning could be seen as a treasonous act.
In this vein, former Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Kaine popped up on Good Morning America this morning to deliver his own forceful remarks.
Mentioning Trumps letter on Comeys firing, the Virginia senator said that the president inserting the paragraph about Comey telling him hes not the subject of an investigation was akin to a bad poker player whose facial expressions tell you what kind of hand they have.
That is a tell, he continued. We have a deeply insecure president who understands the noose is tightening because of this Russia investigation. And thats why I believe he has let Jim Comey go.

(26,044 posts)Because it seems clear that, with loyalists in charge at DoJ and FBI, the noose has been slipped for good.

(32,617 posts)Firing Comey doesn't change that.
Trump is a criminal, he's taken bribes, laundered money for the Russians, colluded with the enemy, fixed the election, and he's subverted the democratic process. This isn't going away and Trump knows it.
The next director will have the same evidence that Comey had.
Trump is going down, and taking them all down with him.
The world is watching to see what we do. We have to stick together with courage and resolve.

(14,168 posts)There was a rogue pro-Trump group already within the FBI. The ones that pressured Comey to come out about the emails. So I for one have little faith that this new all-on-board director will vigorously take up the torch. More like he will huddle with that group to find ways to stifle, delay, and ultimately de-fang it

(32,617 posts)The evidence against Trump is already there, they have enough to convict him.
Sally Yates and Obama made sure by numbering the documents and storing them in a digital archive.
They're not getting deleted or "lost." No whoopsies, they're going to convict the felons.
Remember that the CIA and the FBI have no love for Trump, they'll be happy to put him away for good.
Now they also want to avenge the firings of Yates, Clapper and Comey. So they're mad as hornets.
This won't take long. (It just seems that way.)

(15,273 posts)That the reason Comey was fired was because the investigation was closing in on the WH and Trump.
That needs to be drummed into the public consciousness so it becomes the automatic response when someone is asked why Comey was fired. This is what made Nixon's impeachment possible, the public no longer believed him making it easier for Congress to abandon him.
