Source: Comey is 'not worried about any tapes'
Source: CNN
(CNN) Former FBI Director James Comey is "not worried about any tapes" of conversations between him and President Donald Trump, a source familiar with the matter told CNN Friday, adding that "if there is a tape, there's nothing he is worried about" that could be on it.
Friday morning, Trump issued a thinly veiled threat to Comey, apparently suggesting there are possibly recorded conversations between the two men that could be leaked to counter the former FBI director if necessary.
"James Comey better hope that there are no 'tapes' of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press," Trump tweeted.
On Friday, CNN's Jake Tapper reported that Comey was "taken aback" by Trump's request for a personal assurance or pledge of loyalty at a dinner shortly after he took office. Comey refused, saying he could not make such a pledge, but he promised to always be honest with the President.
The source said of the dinner between Comey and Trump on January 27 that it came at Trump's request and was one-on-one.
The source noted that a few days before the dinner, Comey had already been told by the President that he would stay on the job.
"It is absolutely untrue that Jim asked to have dinner or that he asked to have his job," the source said. "That is a complete fabrication."

But that was before gasoline was invented. We should be generous and pour it on!

"Sources" are giving us their version of 'the facts.'
Reporters are giving us their version of 'the facts.'
What do we get to do now?
We get to pick our version that we believe is 'the facts.'
Let me tell you the last version I would ever believe - the one coming out of the Liar-in-Chief's mouth!

(9,895 posts)Facts are NOT something you get to CHOOSE or "Believe in" like religious dogma.
Facts are NOT selected from a menu of "possible facts".
Facts are by definition the backbone of a proposition.
Facts are independently true and objectively evident and verifiable to anyone wishing to examine them....REGARDLESS of what someone WANTS to believe.
Fact: If you jump out of a tall window, you will fall to the earth, or the next solid object underneath your descent.
No one cares if you BELIEVE in things like gravity (why you fall) or your chances of survival (terminal velocity versus the ability of your landing to absorb the forces generated)...if you jump, you will fall - end of story, full stop.
Trump and his continual harangue about 'fake news' and 'democrats made this up' are infuriating lies that seemingly everyone KNOWS are lies, but no one is willing to call him out on them (or any of the other multitude of prevarications the man spouts hourly).
Donald J. Trump. J'accuse! You are an interminable liar and a man of low moral fiber and standing. You are more beast than man and are unfit for polite or high society. You should be shamed to ever again show your face in such august company and your resignation from the board of the country club is expected forthwith. Good day to you sir and may your presence never again darken our doorstep.
Or if that is too "high 'falutin" for you Donnie....get the fuck out of here and never come back you piece of shit.

I'm imagining perhaps he said something like, "You know I did my best to try and help you win with my email announcement plus my refusal to speak about any Russian connections in regards to your own campaign. But I can't just stop this ongoing investigation on your campaigns ties to Russia. I'll have to push on with it. That's my job."
Its like Trump would only tweet that if he knew he had him by the balls. A MAD type of tactic, ie. if I go down, you're going down with me.

(15,214 posts)If it's a contest between Trump and Comey as to who is the smarter of the two - Comey's got that covered.
There is NO WAY IN HELL that an FBI agent would not think he was being recorded, would say anything that might incriminate him that could be recorded, or would not know that Trump is a jerk.
