Kirkersville Shooting: Three Dead, Including Police Chief, at Ohio Nursing Home
Source: NBC News
A shooter opened fire inside an Ohio nursing home Friday, killing two employees and the town's brand new police chief, police said.
Dozens of law enforcement officers were dispatched to Pine Kirk Care Center in Kirkersville after panicked 911 calls.
Kirkersville Police Chief Steven Eric Disario, 36, died, and two nursing home workers were also found dead, Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp confirmed.
"It's a real hard day for all of us," Thorp said. "The deputies who pulled him to safety, if you will, are having a real hard time."

(11,829 posts)My husband and I were at a local Starbucks a few months ago and someone came in wearing his holster and his gun. Now there are often police and sheriff's officers there and I have no problem with that. But a civilian - makes me want to leave. They want to intimidate - they've done it. I'm intimidated.
By the way, belated welcome to DU.

My parents live 3 miles from Kirkersville, and my mother is playing piano Sunday for the Methodist church across the street from this nursing home.
