Republicans getting nervous about Dem recruitment

Source: Axios

I'm beginning to hear senior Republicans fret about Democrats recruiting unusually high quality House candidates for the 2018 midterms. They worry that with Trump in turmoil, accomplished progressives view next year as a their best chance in ages to win a congressional seat.

- Jason Crow to challenge GOP Rep. Mike Coffman for Colorado's 6th District. Crow's bio: "[Led] a platoon of paratroopers during the invasion of Iraq and earned the Bronze Star for his combat actions during the invasion..."
- Chrissy Houlahan to challenge GOP Rep. Ryan Costello for Pennsylvania's 6th District. Houlahan's bio: Engineering degree from Stanford, Captain in the Air Force Reserve, chief operating office of an apparel company and of nonprofits.

...snip...

A DCCC source tells me the Democratic committee has already had serious conversations with more than 300 potential candidates in about 75 districts. "There are a great deal of veterans, small business owners and entrepreneurs, and women that are stepping up," the source said.

will not place victory into the jaws of defeat.
The need a strategy and not just a tactic of attacking trump and repukes.
They need to get voters energized for the greater good!

I'm furious at seeing high-quality candidates getting no support at all from the national party, and being left to wither on the vine. We had a chance to get rid of John McCain, and blew it. Jeff Flake, well-known to all and sundry locally as a being a true flake, now sits in the senate. There's no way Martha McSally could have gotten Gabby's old district if we'd only had the resources and backing of the DNC. Instead, we were inundated by a flood of dark money from the Kochs and their cronies, and never seemed to get on the radar of our own party.

We also need to have candidates for every state and local seat down to dog catcher's assistant.

I would rather have them in than not for sure, but Donor money has gotten us into this mess.

To control the court we need to first win some elections. Can't win 'em if we don't take the money. It's a nasty compromise, but that's politics.
