'Trumponomics': Cut Entitlement Programs, Boost Defense Spending

Source: NBC News

President Donald Trump's 2018 budget proposal includes sweeping cuts to social spending for low-income Americans, including entitlement programs that the president promised to protect as a candidate, while boosting defense spending.

White House budget director Mick Mulvaney briefed reporters on the blueprint Monday, which seeks to eliminate the deficit in 10 years while avoiding cuts to Medicare and Social Security retirement benefits. The full budget is scheduled to come out on Tuesday morning.

"This is, I think, the first time in a long time the administration has written a budget through the eyes of the people paying the taxes," Mulvaney told reporters.

It would accomplish its savings goals via deep cuts to other safety-net programs. At the same time, it assumes that the White House's agenda of repealing Obamacare, reforming the tax code and investing in infrastructure will become law and unleash an economic boom that would further reduce deficits by $2 trillion over the next decade.

This is why Republicans will continue to support Trump. He sucks up all the media oxygen with his criminal activities while supporting Republicans' war on the poor and working class.

15. Eisenhower quote from his "Cross of Iron" (or Chance for Peace) speech in 1953

Speaking only three months into his presidency, Eisenhower likened arms spending to stealing from the people, and evoked William Jennings Bryan in describing "humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/9556.html

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."
Dwight D. Eisenhower, From a speech before the American Society of Newspaper Editors, April 16, 1953
34th president of US 1953-1961 (1890 - 1969)

No real populist anywhere in the world supports any economic policy that smacks of trickle-down - on the contrary, most are in Bernie Sanders' ballpark policywise.

3. "reform the tax code" equals massive tax cuts for the ruling class

I wish the authors of these would use different language. Tax reform is always tax cuts for the ruling class. Medicare reform will be reduction of care provided, welfare reform cuts in the meager amount of money people get and so on. Every single policy these aholes always advocate benefit only the ruling class and hurt middle and lower income people. Guess I'm always preaching to the choir here.

12. "Brilliant" Solution To Poverty

May 2017

I now see the right's plan for reducing poverty clearly -

If you're poor, just start making "products" to sell to the US armed forces.

The lethality of your "product" is, of course, directly related to the rate at which you will be lifted from your financial straits.

The problem of poverty, solved!!

13. And their "rationale" for balancing the budget

is laden with fake projections based upon non-existent economic growth after tax cuts. In other words, this abomination of a "budget" won't even accomplish their stated aim of eliminating the deficit.

It's all just lies in an attempt to justify stealing from the rest of us in order to shovel money upwards to the wealthy.

14. Every penny in "safety-net" programs gets spent.

Every penny in "safety-net" programs gets spent and is a significant part of our consumer economy. Money spent on "defense" ends up in the coffers of the rich and doesn't grow or even maintain the economy.

The effects on the economy won't be immediate, but will certainly not be an "economic boom." I think they are mixed up, it is a BOON to the 1%.
