Sheriff Clarke Expresses Uncertainty About DHS Job He Claimed, Blames CNN

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke expressed uncertainty over whether he would end up serving in the Trump administration in two recent interviews, citing CNNs reporting on plagiarism in his masters degree thesis paper as an attempt to intimidate him personally and undermine the administrations confidence in him.
CNN reported Saturday that Clarke had quoted sources directly without using quotation marks 47 times in his 2013 thesis. Theyre saying certain words and phrases I should have put quotation marks around. OK, alright, fine, Clarke acknowledged in an appearance on The Sid and Bernie Show Tuesday morning, CNN noted. He called the networks reporting a political smear.
This is designed to intimidate me, he said. Its designed to try to weaken the confidence that President Trump has in me, that Secretary Kelly has in me.
In a separate interview flagged by CNN, with Joe Pags, Clarke said, Im in a political environment, sometimes political decisions are made.

(12,647 posts)"I have a Master's Degree from the Naval Postgraduate school in Security Studies, after all. What's a few quotation marks when it comes to the ticking time bomb that's going to go off if you don't beat the answer out of your suspect?"
Sigh. The Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey has a very good reputation for academics - on Campus, where the classroom sizes are controlled and the instructors can better manage the students and the course of their studies.
But that doesn't mean their distance study/online students don't get away with a lot of plagiarism and other slipshod crap when the instructors don't have time to sit down one on one with them in class.
And I suspect Clarke got his master's degree in a distance course; Security Studies is one of those sorts of "3 - 4 units every 2 months" 24 month post-graduate programs similar to Leadership and Management or Contracts Management; there's a lot of active duty officers and senior enlisted, federal employees and others who need that "Master's Degree" ticket punched for a supervisory position will leverage those online courses instead of actually going back to class, and instructors will often find themselves teaching up to 40 students at an accelerated pace - and miss the occasional plagiarism or cheating. Six years ago, two co-workers got their Masters in Systems Engineering together from the same NPS distance program.
They had two weeks to announce their thesis and get it approved, one month to write it and put it up for publication and review - and the NPS academic review board had two weeks to read and accept their paper - along with the other 38 cohort members who were doing the same thing.

Y'all need to erase the hate. The people working in this administration are doing their best with what they have to work with and are people who want the country to move forward and have a positive effect upon the citizens.
Trump is the only idiot here. The sheriff is a decent man.

He is a murderer and a psychopath and a white nationalist.
I would verbally flay you alive right now, but I don't want someone like you to be teh cause of a hidden post.
Just go away, Mr. THEY ARE PATRIOTS

Leave the man alone. He is rightly qualified for the position he is up for and should be confirmed. Fuck the commas.
Joe Biden was accused of plagiarism for a few missed quotation marks and had to end his presidential run back in the 90's. Did that make him a bad guy? No. He became one of the most beloved VP's in the Nation's history.
