(2,533 posts)n birth certificate? Just because HE has no real sources when he lies, doesn't equate to news media that has to protect their sources for news. Don't worry 45, the sources will become very clear in the future as your crimes are being uncovered.

(21,839 posts)He now says in my opinion, very possible, etc.
Wonder what that change means. Did his lawyers advise him that failure to couch his language could lead to a defamation suit? Or did he want to avoid what happened following his claims of being wiretapped?

(2,894 posts)thing he or his other thugs have done (or said) is perfectly appropriate... 45 and others (like his thugs, Congressional Republicans and Fox) saying the REAL problem is leaking.... and ALSO, it's "fake news."

(25,219 posts)circle the wagons. Looks like Trump will blame the leakers, the news media and his opponents (the Dems). But will he (the WH) cooperate with the requests for information by the investigative committee's? Will he (the WH) provide them with backup info that clears him and his people or will he refuse to cooperate?
In the end the Special Counsel - with the back-up of the FBI - will have the goods on Trump and his team(s) from the primaries to the WH. This info will not be fake news - it will be fact.
I have to say I'm quite surprised by Mattis & McMaster backing up Trump. I know they work for the guy and they have to - but I ask are they doing it for their job or are they complicit with the treasonous acts that appear to have been acted upon?
Since the Nov. election - I've used the 'coup' word as to what is happening to this country. Given the revelations of the past couple of weeks and the actions of Trump and his people - I have to still feel that we are in the midst of a 'coup' in this country.
If we are it must cut deep and it might even involve the military.
I still say that if Trump goes down - he'll bring down the whole Repug Party - either because they were part and parcel to the 'coup' or if not - he'll make something up to take them down with him. I believe he is holding that over their heads and that is why they always come to his protection in these times of damning info being reported.
The Repug Party was in on this from the beginning or the Russian hacking also penetrated their computers and is holding that info in order to blackmail them into supporting this Russian attack.
The Repugs are protecting their jobs. Therefore in the next days and weeks to come we'll be seeing the rank and file Repugs in the House and Senate circle the wagons around Trump as well.
Everytime we think that this all soon will come to an end - we get the pushback from the WH and the Repugs that just extends this misery that they are putting us through. We are still in the cover-up mode. I don't know what kind of info has to come out and be reported that will put the final nail in Trump's and the Repugs coffin.
Right now I'm feeling very demoralized. I don't have another word for it. I guess in the vernacular of Trump - it's SAD.

(1,192 posts)I believe you're right about a coup, which is why we have to allow time for the net of truth to surround these treasonous fish before we haul them in. They are in it for the money and the short term. The only way I can sleep at all at night is because I believe we will prevail.

We need to keep on our toes and use everything we've got to keep this from happening.

Someone who is known for lying and exaggerating...He is .."Biggest Liar in the World"..
Who is to believed???.............you tell me..
Here is an example...during the election the "Biggest Liar in the World" told coal miners that he would return jobs to the industry. The is he promised more jobs to those who have lost jobs due to less demand for the product.(coal)..Within the last few days, the White House has had to tell miners that it is not possible to return jobs, because the demand for coal is much less than even a few years ago. In effect, the "Biggest Liar" ...lied again.

(59,495 posts)Rather than responding as McMasters did to normalize the accusation by speaking of past back channels, he is questioning - but not quite denying - the charges. Many RW pundits were following McMasters' lead - speaking of everything from the back channels used by President Kennedy to speak directly to Russia to avoid nuclear war over Cuba .. which led to the famous phone line between the countries to Obama asking Kerry to see if Oman could work with the Obama administration in creating a back channel for talks with Iran. The difference, of course, was that Kennedy and Obama, as Presidents, had the right to do this.
I suspect where McMasters was going was that this was started AFTER the election and Kushner/Trump were speaking of something that could occur after Trump was President. The accusation would be worse if it were said to have been spoken of - say - a year ago, during the election. It IS interesting that Trump is not going in this direction and pointing out that it was consistent with his campaign promises to have a closer relationship with Russia and, in particular, to work with them to fight ISIS or to get peace in Syria. (Consider what had to be messaging to his base when he spoke of the NATO countries being willing to "join" his coalition to fight terrorism. Ignoring that NATO has been involved since 911 (though not on Iraq) and were part of Obama's 68 countries fighting ISIS - a fact that the right wing has ignored since it started.)
It may turn out that Kushner not putting the conversations/meetings on his clearance might be the easiest to prove wrongdoing. That it involved a known enemy country, accused of trying to destroy our democracy, should be a political disaster. That it isn't, shows how we really are two countries - and the Trump side is beyond my comprehension.
Another more damning suggestion was that Kushner/Flynn et al were speaking of removing sanctions in return for Russian banks providing loans, obviously at a surprisingly good rate to Trump related businesses.
I think the left, especially politicians and top pundits, to proceed slowly and carefully on this ... because there really is something here. Calling for the revocation of Kushner's clearance and demanding he not be in the NSC or any meeting where a clearance would be required would be a prudent demand. There is an excellent case to revoke his clearance. It is also likely that Trump would IGNORE that the Intelligence Community did this - leading to a Michael Flynn like controversy.

(1,002 posts)I just love waking up on Sunday morning of Memorial Day weekend to news of the Traitor's latest tweet tantrum. Another president - Obama? Hillary? - would be giving a talk about those who sacrificed their lives for our country. My Dad was 30 years career military and he must be turning in his grave at the freedoms the Traitor wants to get rid of that my Dad fought so hard to preserve for us all.

(1,129 posts)Deniability for himself when he throws J-rod under the bus....
Remember... in *45-land
Loyalty/Protection for Family Only ...
and marriage isn't blood.....
When the evidence against J-rod is presented
*45 will say that
J-rod & Flynn conspired with Kislyak
unbeknownst to *45
Therefore, he is the Victim and blah blah...
Now, the fact that J-rod & Flynn were not present in the Oval office when 45 gave info to
Sergey & Sergei
(Reminds me of the 2 'Ivans' in the movie XXX)
Will be problematic for *45
Best case scenario is that
McMasters is a plant
And has been providing *45
With false intelligence to be tracked back to Russia
After all if Schiller did copy Comey's computer data
& *45 gave it to Sergey^2 then
The memory device has to be accessed by FSB
Whose to say that the drive &/or the data were not infected...???
Whose to say that any aircraft codes or other Intell shared was legitimate or current.....
On the bright side....
Jared is probably the biggest treasure trove of information regarding trump/Russia....
As he is part of it.
But this is a test of *45's loyalty to Jared
And if *45 throws him to the wolves...
that may be the catalyst for J-rod to deal
for lesser charges

...and the actual collection of evidence to be adjudicated before one of the many tribunals in play with respect to Trump/Russia.
In the end, our opinions mean very little, except to the extent that we may exert pressure on our institutions to take action against overtly criminal and perhaps treasonous behavior.
There is no such thing as fake news in a court of law. Evidentiary standards apply, and a verdict in court is final. All these tweets about leaks and lies etc. are diversions to lead us off the scent. The real truth comes when indictments are handed down and the anonymous sources become real persons testifying against the alleged criminals.
Twitter exists in the now. Patience is a virtue.
