Facebook just told Christians they're not allowed a 'cross' button

Source: Indy100

Conservative Christians who were demanding a cross reaction emoji on Facebook have been left disappointed by the social media giant.

In June Facebook unveiled a rainbow flag reaction emoji which allowed users to celebrate and honour the LGBTQ community.

Needless to say, people really liked it.

The move was a part of Facebook’s efforts to spread love and diversity online during Pride month, which to be honest is something the Internet needs more of.

That explains a lot.

Right in the article is a FB post showing all the icons available for use. Why isn't that enough?

If a user uses it to respond to an anti-gay marriage poster, it will be used to antagonize and irk him.

I wonder why no cross, then? I'm not religious, but I don't see the difference. If you let one group express his group, then why not another, as long as it's not negative or non-pc? A cross is certainly about spreading love at least as much as an LGBT emoji.

They include a sad face, a "wow" face, an angry face, and a heart for "love." During June, in certain geographic areas and in some cases only if you requested it, they added a rainbow icon you could use to "react" to other people's posts. It was definitely used on some conservative Christian posts to irk and antagonize, and it was hilarious.

Because conservative Christians, well, don't seem to actually BE Christians.

Honestly, they have almost turned into a hate group. At least some of them have. We always seem to be hearing about some ignorant pastor blaming gays for earthquakes, etc. I mean, a young lady in my own state is suing for the right to discriminate against gays - asking for the official 'right to hate,' you know?

The other thing, is that when someone tells me they are a Christian, I hurriedly button up my wallet while my mind races to find some excuse to leave when the proselytizing begins.

Like Yuval Harari says in his book Homo Deus, "Religion is a deal. Spirituality is a journey."

an instrument of torture. I think the guy who observed "...if Jesus had been executed in the 19th century,
christians would be putting replicas of the electric chair on their buildings and wearling little miniature
models of it around their pious necks..." got it right.
