Investor who spotted Enron fraud: Trump infrastructure plan is 'fake fiscal news'

Source: The Hill

Jim Chanos, the short-selling investor who was one of the first to spot the fraud that would become the Enron scandal, called President Trump's infrastructure plan "fake fiscal news" in an interview published Friday.

Chanos dismissed the idea that Trump's much-touted infrastructure plan would create economic growth.

"That's just another sort of fake fiscal news, if you will. It's going to be public-private partnerships," Chanos told Lynn Parramore of the Institute for New Economic Thinking in an interview.

(snip)

"Because private investors need high rates of return, these deals generally haven't been good deals for anybody," Chanos said. "We're told that the private sector will be able to do this better. Well, they might be able to do it better and faster, but only for a small number of projects."

In our history, infrastructure projects such as the railroad and the interstate highway system created a lot of jobs for people. However they were run as government projects and managed that way. It really helped the middle class get new good-paying jobs, plus it got major things done.

The new infrastructure projects that Trump is proposing will just be handing federal money over to private firms and they'll run them however they want. So they'll maximize their profits by hiring as few people for the lowest wages possible. This is Donald Trump's way of doing anything, and it's the only thing he understands.

Of course his GOP buddies will win all the contracts too, but that goes without saying.

dump's looting wish, aka infrstructure plan, never goes anywhere. Would be another of his "policy" proposals to resist vigorously. No selling off of the U.S. to the oligarchs. The dumpster just wants to emulate what happened in Russia and reward the oligarchy with profit opportunities.

Another of the con's scams.
