The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing next week for Christopher Wray, President Donald Trump's pick to be the next FBI director.
The July 12 hearing, announced by Chairman Chuck Grassley, is likely to focus on the FBI's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election, as well as Wray's ability to maintain independence from Trump.

The U.S. Senates Judiciary Committee announced Wednesday that it will hold confirmation hearings for President Donald Trumps nominee for the directorship of the FBI Christopher Wray in one week on Wednesday, July 12.
BuzzFeed News reporter Zoe Tilman posted the notification from the Judiciary Committee on Twitter, writing, Grab the popcorn! Senate Judiciary Committee hearing for FBI director nominee Christopher Wray is set for July 12.

Given the multiple investigations currently swirling around the Trump administration, Wrays confirmation is expected to be a contentious affair.

(2,545 posts)I know I'm just a mindless citizen who should let the big boys do their special thing and handle these important issues. But inquiring minds want to know, really, to whom will the FBI now be answering?
Will the FBI become trumps personal police force. So say he, trump, gets all that voter info he has his minion casting about for. What then? Send special agents to the homes and work places of those he finds distasteful. Will his new FBI chief have to lawyer up like all the other wanna be' she has hired?
Lots a questions possible. I'm sure you've got your own.
