DNC invests earlier in state parties, voter persuasion

Source: Washington Post

The Democratic National Committee, lagging its Republican rival in fundraising, is pouring what it has into new grassroots organizing for state parties. This week, the DNC is launching a State Partnership Program to deliver on what the new chairman, Tom Perez, ran on — brick-and-mortar rebuilding of local parties that shriveled in the Obama years.

“For too long, we poured our resources into races at the top of the ticket instead of organizing at the grass roots and building a deep bench of talent,” Perez said. “This unprecedented investment in our state parties is the first major step in our effort to get back to basics and rebuild the Democratic Party from the ground up.”...

The DNC is also launching a State Party Innovation Fund, with $10 million earmarked for grants that state parties can compete for by organizing and modernizing; funds, according to the party, will be devoted to “innovation, best practices and organizing in base, rural, millennial and youth communities, in addition to help with building technical infrastructure.”

A good signal of a course change would be repudiating completely the privatization of public schools.

Every Democratic state needs to put districting into permanent independent commissions to stop gerrymandering once and for all.

Perez is building from the ground up. DNC has had some real financial challenges. We don't have the Koch's and Adelsons this bankroll us.

It sounds like a granular version of the 50-state strategy, but we really do need that ahead of the 2020 census or we'll be through for good.

And put a straight shooter not a seasoned muddler in charge of that program.. Teach Dems how to turn Repug and MSM propaganda into opportunitiesto reroute the conversation to simple explanations of what Dems stand for and what we are fighting for.

Surveys show the majority of Americans follow OUR ideals, but Dem candidates have underdeveloped skill at rerouting by reframing questions in airtime to explain our popular positions. As much as some people here dislike Bernie, he showed all Dems how to message better and certainly how to reframe a stupid(Republicany) media question and use any valuable airtime to champion clear positions.

I'd also take some of the money floating around to compile voting records on every Republican incumbent:

The most effective tv ad against an entrenched Repug I've ever seen was Applegate's against Issa stating that Issa voted against the 911 first Responders' Bill. It took Applegate within 1500 votes in a supposed Issa "shoe in' and so upset Issa that he took Applegate to court to stop the ad & sue for libel.. (The judge found Applegate's ad "true" and even hit Issa with an AntiSlapp motion, meaning Issa cannot use our courts to menace/silence his political opponents in the future)

So talk about just one single ad that had huge effect ag one supposedly invincible Repub incumbent; had Issa not silenced the ad by lawsuit, had it had been allowed longer than a few days to air and be seen, I have no doubt Issa would have lost. The demograhics in the District are changing but that ad.... well you just don't vote against 911 First Responders and not expect consequences at the polls when enough people find out.

I think Applegate's still digging out from the ginormous court costs of fighting Issa's suit. I send him money when I have it towards this debt; that's how much I respect his ad and how he fought Issa fair and square.
