Graham drafting alternative health care plan

Source: Politico

Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Tuesday that he’s working with other senators to draft an alternative plan to replace Obamacare — and he hopes to win Democratic support.

The surprising comments by the South Carolina Republican come as Senate GOP leaders struggle to come up with the 50 votes necessary to pass their bill to repeal and replace the 2010 health law.

“I'm working with some senators to come up with a new approach to deal with how to replace Obamacare,” Graham told reporters. “I think it will be fundamentally different. I think it will potentially attract some Democrats.”

He added: “We're not there yet, but we're working with governors, and we may be taking some of the critics of the current bill and converting them to supporters.” He said he would begin unveiling details of his plan in “24 to 48 hours.”

by giving each Senator a $20-k, tax-free salary bonus every year for the next 10 years if they support the bill in its current iteration and vote for its passage as is.

Just guessing...

the Democrats signing on, there would no more than 5% of the republicans, if that much, and they wouldn't have enough votes to pass it

7. You have an impressive degree of insight into the minds of the legislators.

That is, of course, sarcasm. Why? Because it's really irksome when someone presents pure conjecture as certainty.

It indeed may not be single payer, but the time - based on public opinion, public knowledge, and the fact that it's the only way to achieve the stated goals of health care legislation - is definitely ripe for a coalition of fed up pols to form.

Fix the obvious issues with Obamacare, fully fund it, and add in Medicare as an option for the over 50 crowd. Only call it the Affordable Care Act to quiet the crazies and it's job done.

You're going to draft an alternative plan to replace Obamacare? And plan on unveiling the details in “24 to 48 hours.”

It can't be done.

Are you insane? (Or just assume your supporters are?) How many months did it take for the Obama administration to put together its plan and make it law? It took two years. And it took more than just "some Senators" to pull it all together.

Go the fuck away.

14. The reason the ACA took so long was placing special interests ahead of the public welfare.

We know what works and workable single payer plans based on Medicare are sitting in any number of drawers in the legislature.

I'm happy to give sanity a chance and encourage extremism from any direction to "go the fuck away".
