According to The Sun on Sunday, in a transcript of a conversation between the two leaders, Mr Trump told the Prime Minister: "I haven't had great coverage out there lately, Theresa."

She replied: "Well, you know what the British press are like."

He said: "I still want to come, but I'm in no rush. So, if you can fix it for me, it would make things a lot easier.

"When I know I'm going to get a better reception, I'll come and not before."

Almost two million people in Britain had signed an online petition calling for the visit to be stripped of the trappings of a state occasion, to avoid causing "embarrassment" to the Queen...........................

The Sun was boycotted in Liverpool after the deaths in Hillsborough Football Stadium because of wicked and scurrilous lies, and even now- is it almost 30 years later? - people might buy it toline the budgie's cage, but not otherwise. Somehow, I don't think we'll see your 'president' anytime soon - if he lasts, or indeed if Theresa lasts, they are both very damaged goods. We are nice polite people, but we can hate like the sheep at a Trump Rally (see the mess in Brexit?) - for some strange reason, Trump is not the most popular man on the planet; we can look on in horror at his actions in the US but we certainly don't want him over here.

Hopefully neither of these things change so we don't have to see him there embarrassing the US again overseas. when I was in Europe in April, we got treated poorly when we said we were from America. We told this one couple that there was no way for them to hate him even a fraction as much as we did. They sniffed and said their news said that all Americans loved him and would never speak to us again. Obviously they read and listened to Murdoch media. So, anyway, after that, we said we're from Canada (like the other couple we were there with).
