Netanyahu: Israel Opposes Cease-fire Deal Reached by U.S. and Russia in Southern Syria

PARIS - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters after his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday that Israel opposes the cease-fire agreement in southern Syria that the United States and Russia reached because it perpetuates the Iranian presence in the country.
The prime minister noted that in his meeting with Macron, he made it clear to the French president that Israel was totally opposed to the cease-fire plan.

(15,512 posts)Violence begets violence and who besides Netanyahu is remotely interested in keeping this horror going? Macron effectively passed so who does that leave? May and Merkel, with their refugee crises? I don't think so.

(17,382 posts)...now after trying to cozy up to Russia, Netanyahu is in for a rude awakening as Russia/Trump throws Israel under the bus in order to curry favor with other Middle East countries. Worse, in order to increase demand for oil, Russia/Trump might just try to create some middle east tension to raise the price of oil.
