MPD Officer Who Shot Woman Identified As Mohamed Noor

Source: CBS Minnesota

The Minneapolis police officer who shot and killed a woman on the city’s south side over the weekend has been identified as Mohammed Noor.

Sources tell WCCO-TV that Damond called 911 over a possible assault, and when Noor and another officer arrived at the scene in a squad car, she spoke to them near an alley. At some point, Noor, who was in the squad’s passenger seat, reached over and shot Damond.

What exactly led to the shooting remains unclear.

No weapons were recovered from the scene, according to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the agency called in to investigate the shooting. A cellphone was found near Damond’s body.

It would be hard to escape this one, with the body cams and dash cam turned off. No weapon anywhere. Sympathy for the blonde victim. Immigrant cop. This could be the one catalyst that finally gets something to change in the Minneapolis police after several high profile shootings.

I'm predicting this one might be sent to prison.

They MAY......be able to get a conviction on 2nd Degree out of this one. But even with the fact some on the jury might vote to convict based upon his appearance and name, it is still mighty hard to convict any cop these days.

Cops are kinda like Drumpf. They can go into the street and shoot someone, and still be supported.

The best part is that many deplorables are struggling mentally over who to support.

Both the cop and the deceased are immigrants but one is "more immigrant" than the other. And the woman taught yoga and meditation, things deplorables deplore.

particularly blonde Australian women. They don't even view them as foreigners, only "future Americans".

They view this woman as more "American" than a Latino whose family has lived in the southwest for generations.

It is possible to turn off the politics for five minutes and empathize that someone is dead. I know that's hard for some people, but it is possible.

this time it looks like there is enough empathy for the innocent person and enough bigotry against the cop that we might see something change.

It's like the civil rights and anti-Vietnam war movements. Nobody even knows about the many university shootings in the south where student protesters were black but I bet you remember Kent State.

I empathize that someone is dead and I want social change to come of it. Some people don't want change and benefit from the status quo.

because she heard suspicious noises in the alley behind her home. And why the hell did BOTH of them have their body cams off?? The stepson is right, police are completely out-of-control now and need complete retraining. SIX HUNDRED SIXTY POLICE MURDERS so far this year, the vast majority of them of those who were unarmed or otherwise not a threat.

Police officer who shot Justine Damond had less than two years experience

The US police officer who shot dead Australian woman Justine Damond in a Minneapolis alley was reportedly seated in his vehicle at the time of the shooting and has been identified as having little more than two years' experience on the force.

Noor, the first Somali-American officer at Minneapolis' 5th Precinct, was in the passenger seat and fired multiple times across his partner at Ms Damond, another Minneapolis TV station, KSTP, reported.

A May 2016 newsletter from the City of Minneapolis said he joined the force in 2015 and had only recently completed his field training.

If he had completed his training, then he should have known not to shoot in this situation, even if she was screaming at him that she didn't want to be saved by a "towelhead." If a cop can't handle a racial epithet with actions less severe than immediate execution, then he never should have been given a badge in the first place.

From the pictures posted of him online, he didn't seem to be wearing anything that would immediately identify him as a Muslim or an Arabic person. Apparently he shot across his partner, through the driver door.

I can't for the life of me imagine any scenario that makes any sense here.

Then he had no business being on the force at all. No drive for ethnic balance justifies this. Was it worth this woman's life to figure that out?

They will say he mistook her cellphone for a gun, and feared for him and his partners' lives. End of story.

And then he'll probably get a hung jury.

Somehow, I don't think Mr. Noor is getting the tidal waves of "BLUE LIVES MATTER" support from white America that the vast majority of his predecessors have enjoyed...

And somehow I don't think NBC is going to pay him $500,000 for an exclusive softball interview on prime time...

Even the NRA isn't going to touch this one, and they've *NEVER* heard of an improper shooting in recorded history... Until now, of course...

As painful and bitter as it will be to endure, at least the unmitigated hypocrisy from law-and-order conservatives will be entertaining to watch...
