UC Davis confirms officer at center of pepper spraying controversy no longer on the force
Source: Sacramento Bee
Lt. John Pike, the UC Davis police officer who became a focal point of last November's pepper spraying incident during a campus protest, is no longer employed by the university, a spokesman confirmed late Tuesday.
UC Davis spokesman Barry Shiller said he could not discuss the details of Pike's departure, but in response to queries from The Bee, he said Pike was no longer employed there as of Tuesday.
"Consistent with privacy guidelines established in state law and university policy, I can confirm that John Pike's employment with the university ended on July 31, 2012," Shiller said. "I'm unable to comment further."
Pike, 39, declined to comment when reached by The Bee, saying he wanted to consult with his attorney first.

Not excusing Pikes' actions, or agree with this, but he may have had full authority and access to the same weapons as his cointerparts in law enforcement...

I think the principle of 'sovereign immunity' may shield Pike or anyone else on the force from criminal liability, but am not sure about that.

Our goal is to have a workforce that reflects the diversity found in the community so that we enhance our ability to understand and respond to a variety of service needs.
Evidently there are Reserve Police Officers' hours ($8), and other Reserve Police Officers' hours ($27.01). I wonder what the .01 is for.
We are currently accepting applications for Police Reserve, which is an hourly position with the City's Police Reserve Unit.

Where is he now is made a non-issue.
Someone or some group who would have ordered this realizes their negligence-or-worse could cost a lot more than a PR firm.

Only ask for things that law allows you to see for certain:
1. Any letter of resignation
2. Any correspondence from his counsel to the department non-lawyers
(there is no privilege)
3.Any agreement reached between him and the univesity reflecting funds paid to settle claims or arbitration proceedings.
4. Any correspondence between the University and outside arbitrators in connection with any appeal filed by guy
5. All warrants and evidence of payment, salary wages, and otherwise made to the guy after ( such and such date)
Under CA law you're not going to get much else
