After the Senate Republican bill to repeal and replace Obamacare again failed to gain enough support to move forward, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) pushed for the Senate to consider a plan he drafted with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA).

Graham and Cassidy announced their plan last week, which would keep some of the taxes imposed by Obamacare and send those funds to the states in the form of block grants. Their legislation also maintains Obamacares protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnall (R-KY) has a different plan, however. Unable to move forward with the replacement bill, McConnell said late Monday night that he would push to bring the House replacement bill to the floor of the Senate and allow a vote on an amendment to repeal Obamcare with a two-year delay.

Back to the Federalists and it's 1789 all over again.

what to do because dismantling everything that was hammered out and works
over the last 150 years can be very unpopular especially when your own solutions
are nothing but a money and power grab for the few and painful for the vast
majority of citizens.
I mean, good luck with that, GOP, McConnell too, and all the rest. There is no ideological
solution to the problems they are trying to solve. It's democracy, a just society, a shared
outcome, it's all about compromise, and the GOP is having none of that.

(4,407 posts)They villainized the ACA for purely political reasons for eight years. It had nothing to do with what works and what doesn't work -- it was a legislative victory for Obama and they thought by making it sound bad, they would win a legislative victory. Surprise, surprise, Americans with a brain or a stake in the outcome refused to go along with their little game just so they could claim a victory.
In order to win, we need to continue this tack of controlling the dialogue. Even President Obama admitted he could have done a better job selling the ACA. Controlling the narrative; we're finally getting better at it. I hope we can keep this up because we still have a huge uphill climb...
