Obama sends well wishes to McCain: 'Cancer doesn't know what it's up against'

Source: The Hill

Former President Barack Obama on Wednesday sent well wishes to Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) after it was announced that McCain has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

"John McCain is an American hero and one of the bravest fighters I've ever known. Cancer doesn't know what it's up against. Give it hell, John," Obama tweeted.

Most of us at DU disagree with Sen. McCain, but I hope all of us wish Sen. McCain well. President Obama did it far more graciously than I ever could.

President Obama makes me proud to be a human being and to have had the honor voting for him both for Senator and for President.

No family deserves what the McCains are about to suffer through.

Thank you President Obama for your kind wishes.

Look at the class he's showing to the guy who ran against him in 2008. And I echo his well-wishes to Senator McCain: Kick its ass, John!

Being an Arizonan, I may not agree with John McCain's politics and I still haven't forgiven him for unleashing Sarah Palin on American politics, but I do not wish cancer on him and his family. My mom died less than a year after being diagnosed with brain cancer, it was brutal and fast. Thanks to Obama and Biden, they are a reminder that politics can be civil and respectful, unlike the current sitting President.

Condolences for your loss - I lost my oldest sister to brain cancer and it was horrible watching a brilliant person literally lose her brain functions.
