Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he plans to stay in role, despite Trump's comments about him

Source: The Washington Post

By Matt Zapotosky and Sari Horwitz July 20 at 10:49 AM

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Thursday that he plans to stay in his job despite the president’s public assertion that he would not have nominated Sessions to the post had he known that he would recuse himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Sessions said he had the “honor of serving as attorney general,” and he planned “to continue to do so as long as that is appropriate.” Asked how he could keep working, having apparently lost President Trump’s confidence, Sessions responded: “We’re serving right now. The work we’re doing today is the kind of work that we intend to continue.

“I’m totally confident that we can continue to run this office in an effective way,” Sessions added.

On Wednesday, the New York Times published an article about an interview with Trump in which the president said he would not have appointed Sessions attorney general had he known Sessions would recuse himself from the investigation into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

This scumbag has no pride, no dignity, no honor and no integrity. He knows that if he leaves, he could very well become the fall guy given what likely was/is his involvement in this election mess and ongoing cover-up.

I actually hope Dump fires him anyway.

"honor of serving as attorney general" as opposed to "honor of serving Trump" or "the Trump administration".

If he resigns, he's dropped back in the fast-moving streams with the piranha.

He won't be going back to the Senate, Best he can hope for is his pension, a few highly overpaid Board member jobs, maybe a book, but I do not see him as a public speaker.

Jeff Sessions Removes Restrictions on Controversial Police Seizures

by JON SCHUPPE

Attorney General Jeff Sessions just made it easier for police to seize cash and property from people suspected ─ but not necessarily charged with or convicted ─ of crimes.

He did it by eliminating an Obama administration directive that prevented local law enforcement from circumventing state restrictions on forfeiture of civil assets. The technique was embraced in the early years of the war on drugs, but it has since been linked to civil rights abuses: people losing cash, cars and homes without any proven link to illegal activity; police taking cash in exchange for not locking suspects up; a legal system that makes it hard for victims to get their possessions back.

Two dozen states have made it harder for authorities to take property from suspects without first securing criminal convictions. Three have outlawed it entirely, according to the Institute for Justice, a nonprofit that advocates for reform.

As Rachel said last night under normal times he would of resigned but were not in normal times.I never though he would resign because Sessions even though he's a right wing he just loves Government. He's been in some kind of Government job for the past 30 or more years

A good many of them want Sessions fired and replaced with someone who'll fire Mueller, shut down the Russia investigation and go after the so-called Clinton-Obama crime syndicate.

I think that the AG is considered part of the Cabinet. I think it takes 50% of the cabinet to remove the president for mental incompetence.

The Republicans may decide that removing Trump may be the only way to save themselves, and the Right wingers would by and large be happy with Pence.
