But you know what crowd is going to devour this like fresh meat. The OJ trial was where a lot of the "angry white" people came out, with mark Fuhrman being one of their first martyrs. I just hope OJ does not once again become his own worst enemy.

Not for things that aren't related.

OJ Simpson got away with murder. No doubt in my mind. Furthermore, he got away with it because he had money to throw a dream legal team at it, effectively buying a level of "justice" that is unattainable for most people.

But I still wouldn't want society to subvert our justice system by using an unrelated case to mete out punishment for something he's been tried for. That fact that OJ was able to subvert justice to get his outcome doesn't make it ok for us to subvert it to punish him.

for the robbery conviction.

The attitude of some people seems to be that he should have been sentenced to life in prison for the robbery. Not because the robbery was so egregious as to warrant a sentence never given out for robbery, but as a substitute for the sentence he avoided when he won acquittal.

Yes, OJ probably is a guilty person who won acquittal. But that's how our system of justice is designed -- to make it hard to convict. Progressives defended Supreme Court decisions that, in the words of the tough on crime crowd, allowed criminals to get off on a "technicality" even when the evidence of guilt was overwhelming. Well, you can't have it both ways. If OJ beat the rap, then its fine to tip your hat to his lawyers and to complain about the prosecutors, judge and jury. But you can't say that OJ's acquittal is worth less than other acquittals.

My dad used to talk about a case he was involved in as a young man - a guy was charged with murder and my dad's firm was appointed to defend him. According to my dad, the guy was a psychopath and my dad was convinced he was guilty. But they won him an acquittal, as it was their sworn duty to try to do. And then the guy was arrested again in a case that, according to my dad, the guy almost certainly was not guilty, but was the victim of a police frame-up (in retaliation for his having beaten the earlier charge). It may have been rough justice, but unless you're willing to stand up and applaud police fraud, it was a miscarriage of justice, too.

While he most likely got away with murder, this is the way our system is supposed to work. He did the time for the crime he committed, which was a lot more than someone with no notoriety likely would have done. I'm not a fan of the guy, but in this particular case, I feel like the system worked. Now I hope he goes away quietly.

his hearing on the radio.

One of the commissioners stated that they received letters both for and against his parole and the majority of those against his parole, according to this commissioner, cited Nicole Brown's murder as why. The commissioner quickly said that they could not and would not consider Brown's death in deciding on Simpson's parole.

He is a fat old man who has lost credibility with everyone but the dullest of dullards.

And I don't see the Trump people giving him much of a welcoming embrace.

He's rededicated his time inside to getting in better shape and cleaning up in that regard.

2017:

I have no use for all the publicity and attention that this got but i'm not surprise it has considering the way the 90's event took everyone over like pod people. But at this stage I have some empathy for the man who is likely dealing with a lot of issues because of age and the toll of what football put on him all those years ago. Hopefully he'll be smart enough to just go live quietly away from things.

"Cupcake Wars" on the Food Network was FAR more engaging.

so he won't have to for some ridiculous legal reason.
Even in jail he used his celebrity and money to pay the other prisoners to clean and do his jobs.

I am sure that where ever he goes and whatever he does he'll be harassed yet he'll make millions so who care if he is guilty of double murder (ask 45...if you're a celebrity , you can do anything).
