Burundi High School Robotics Team Reported Missing In D.C.

Washington, D.C., police say that six teenagers from Burundi who competed in an international robotics competition have been reported missing.
Two of the teens 16-year-old Don Ingabire and 17-year-old Audrey Mwamikazi were last seen leaving the U.S. into Canada, the Metropolitan Police Department tells The Two-Way, adding that there is "no indication of foul play."
The six-person team participated in the first-ever international high school robotics competition, called the FIRST Global Challenge, which took place earlier this week.
They were reported missing on Tuesday, the same day as the event's closing ceremony.

(6,241 posts)they would try Canada. If I was from Iran, I wouldn't try to get asylum in the US with Trump as president. Snowball's chance in hell.

Two of the six teenage members of the Burundi robotics team who went missing from Washington this week have crossed into Canada and are safe, D.C. police said on Thursday.
The four others also are believed to be in safe hands, but authorities declined to provide further details. It is the first indication that the teenagers may have left on their own accord.

(58,785 posts)into Canada from the U.S. are being turned back. It's a small country and not exactly loaded with jobs. In fact, most or all provinces have made it harder for U.S. citizens to move there, no more just showing you have $300K or so in assets and can pay your own way. They'll take people with skills they need, and Rump might be able to buy his way in if he needed to get across the border fast, but the door's shut to most plain old Americans.
