Dozens of foreign workers sought for Trump's Florida clubs

Source: ABC News

The Trump Organization is asking the federal government to grant dozens of special visas to foreign nationals to work at two of the President Donald Trump's private clubs in Florida, including his Mar-a-Lago resort.

The company is seeking 35 waiters and waitresses at Mar-a-Lago along with 20 cooks and 15 maids. A listing is also posted for six cooks at the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter. The jobs pay anywhere from $10.33 to $20.01 per hour. They run from Oct. 1 to May 31.

The requests for H-2B visas filed Thursday have been made public on the Department of Labor's website.

And this is just days after the announcement that there will be an extra 15,000 temporary seasonal work visas this year.

The Foreign Workers of Mar-a-Lago

The sixty-four foreign dishwashers, cooks, cleaners, and gardeners that Mar-a-Lago is expected to employ this year will be paid per hour roughly what they were paid last year. (The Palm Beach Post reported that the range is around ten to thirteen dollars an hour.) The foreign workers brought in to help staff the club tend to come from two countries, Haiti and Romania, according to someone who works at Mar-a-Lago as an employee of an outside contractor. Other clubs and resorts nearby hire even more H-2B workers than Mar-a-Lago does. “It’s very common in South Florida. He’s not the only one,” the person who works at Mar-a-Lago said. “But he is the President, and he has an example to set. Whatever they’ve said—‘We cannot find these people just for six months out of the year’—baloney. If you’re paying a decent wage, you’ll find people to work.”

As he is sending scores of ICE agents to sanctuary cities to round up non-criminals. I guess those that have been in the country for 20 years eeking out a living shouldn't get a chance at a green card.

...I know there won't be any because they jobs are "below" his base who wants high paying manufacturing jobs, not low paying service oriented ones. I was raised that you do what you gotta do to support you and your family and you don't snub your nose at a job.

Some won't be happy until slavery is reinstituted. The think tanks probably have the messaging all ready to go. "They get room and board, it's really just a way to help the homeless.. in fact we will declare it a charity, and deduct it from our taxes".

and cut benefits and minimum wages. To create a permanent servant class who are desperate enough to take very low wage jobs. They can feel so generous for hiring cheap labor and pat themselves on the back so hard they strain themselves.

Make America Great Again like it was 100 years ago when workers died on the job.

that's not a bad wage if they also get tips. Same goes for housekeeping. Even though it's only for 8 months, I find it hard to believe they really can't find local workers. $20 an hour seems a little low for an experienced line cook, but that's set by the DOL. So why don't people want to work for him?
