ASPEN, Colo. Two former senior Obama administration intelligence officials on Friday expressed anger at President Trumps statements disparaging the intelligence community and disbelief at his embrace of Russia.
In remarkably strong terms and in their first extensive remarks on the topic since leaving office on Jan. 20, former CIA director John Brennan and former director of national intelligence James R. Clapper Jr. let loose on Trump, who before taking office had compared his intelligence community to Nazi Germany.
That was a terrible, insulting affront to the rank and file completely inappropriate, over-the-top, Clapper said at the Aspen Security Forum. He said he could not let that pass and had called Trump to register his displeasure.
Brennan said its interesting that Trump will invoke U.S. intelligence when it suits his foreign policy aims in North Korea, Syria or Iran. But when its inconsistent with . . . preconceived notions as well as maybe preferences to what the truth would be and the analysts conclusions are disparaged, thats when Jim Clappers blood and my blood boils, he said.

(19,193 posts)Trump kisses Putin's ass. Even with his ASKING Putin if he had anything to do with it, and then ASKING the same question in a DIFFERENT way, he's never really ACCUSED Putin of subverting our Democracy.
Brennan said he was dismayed by the photo op of Trump leaning over and telling Putin its an honor to be with you. That, he said, was not the honorable thing to say. The Russian leader assaulted one of the foundational pillars of our democracy our electoral system . . . invaded Ukraine, annexed Crimea, has suppressed and repressed political opponents in Russia and has caused the death or killed many of them.
Said Brennan: For someone who knows the art of the deal, I thought it was a very, very bad negotiating tactic.
The truth of the matter is, Trump gave his buddy Putin a complete pass on the Russian election interference. He's a giant coward, too scared to push Putin on the matter. Of course there are OTHER reasons Trump wasn't more forceful about this, and I'm almost certain Mueller knows what those reasons are. I just hope that one day justice will be done, and Trump the traitor is held responsible for his actions.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper blasted President Trumps relationship with Russia on Friday, saying he wonders if Trump is trying to make Russia great again.
Speaking at the Aspen Security Forum alongside former CIA Director James Brennan, Clapper was asked by CNNs Wolf Blister if he believes Trump takes the threat of Russian election interference seriously.
Well, its hard to tell, said Clapper, who served under former President Barack Obama. I sometimes wonder whether what hes about is making Russia great again.
I really wonder about that sometimes, whether he does take it as seriously as [current Director of National Intelligence] Dan Coats and [CIA Director] Mike Pompeo both do...................

Fire the competent career professional types ... replace them with Real Murkans.
For example, he should install Alex Jones as Director of National Intelligence, stat! Then he should nominate Hannity to replace Sessions ... you know, once Sessions decides to throw himself out of a 7th story window. Should be any day now ...
