Conservative pundit Tomi Lahren admitted that she still benefits from a key feature of ObamaCare during a debate in which she blasted the healthcare plan.
Lahren said during a debate at Politicon Saturday with liberal comedian Chelsea Handler that she is on on her parents' healthcare insurance. The ability to stay on your parents' plan until 26 is a major aspect of the healthcare legislation.
Luckily, I am 24, so I am still on my parents plan, Lahren said during the debate, drawing boos from the crowd, according to The Daily Beast.
.......................................
Lahren still slammed ObamaCare as being in a death spiral. Extending insurance to older dependents is not typically targeted by conservatives who criticize ObamaCare for other factors such as the individual mandate to buy insurance...............................

A lot of Trump supporters benefit from ACA just like Tomi. They all should use ACA to get their heads examined.

(58,785 posts)little but their small farm to show for two lifetimes of very hard work, live their principles and refuse to sign up on the federal exchange. Even though they're in their 50s/60s now, have serious health conditions, and really, really can't afford to shoulder free-market premiums.
They're the kind of good conservatives who can be friends with a pair of California liberals invading their neighborhood, including even a Jew.
They're even the kind of friends I could apologetically and delicately, and briefly, inform, just for their information, accepting I felt a duty to tell them, that I believed my lifetime of paying taxes entitled me to participate in a program created by us for us, but especially what I was paying each month through the federal exchange and what I was getting for it. A fraction of their costs for really significantly better coverage.
They listened courteously, we moved to other subjects, and they continued the exhausting of their retirement savings and worrying about the future because they live their beliefs, and that's what people like them around here believe.
VERY unlike this woman.

(3,847 posts)Has any one bothered to tell her the truth about the ACA...she wouldn't have health insurance if not FOR the ACA. They are so fucking stupid.

(37,648 posts)They want to make sure that rich people can pay for their late-blooming kids' healthcare at reduced rates, instead of giving them a check each month.
She should have known this, though, and pointed that out.

(9,766 posts)I would wager the middle class is the greatest beneficiary. And of course those young adults who are just starting out in their careers and either can't afford to purchase it themselves on a starting salary or are having difficulty finding a job that offers insurance.
It's saved both of my kids.

(37,648 posts)Because it's a benefit that the rich can use.
They have to accept that others can use it, too. If ONLY the non-rich could use it, it would not be in the GOP plan, IMO.

(24,355 posts)Why hasn't she pulled herself up by her own bootstraps and had herself removed from her parents' insurance and bought a non-ACA plan out on the "free market" yet? Or hell, why isn't she just going without insurance and paying the penalty since she's young and healthy and there's no possible way anything that would happen that might cause her to go bankrupt w/o insurance? Why aren't Republican members of Congress forgoing their nicer taxpayer-funded insurance and buying a supposedly superior policy out on the non-ACA "free market"? Flaming hypocrites! All of them!

(403 posts)Absolutely this ---> 'Why aren't Republican members of Congress forgoing their nicer taxpayer-funded insurance and buying a supposedly superior policy out on the non-ACA "free market"?'
Excellent point! And thank you for giving me a wonderful talking point for the next letter to my republican congressperson.

(24,355 posts)For all of their touting of the free market they sure don't want to use it much. Why is that?

(5,791 posts)Cut her some slack. The most charitable interpretation isn't that she's dumb or hypocritical, but rather that she's figured out the GOPee's REAL path to prosperity, at least if you're a young blonde woman without scruples: become a "conservative" commentator.
Yesiree, you can gravy train that sucker all the way to the bank. Just be willing to slather on the makeup, keep your hair bleached, and go on teevee mouthing inanities and conservative talking points.
And no, I'm not promoting lookism. Just commenting on the fact that a suspiciously high percentage of female GOPee mouthpieces on teevee meet certain criteria.
Work it, girl!

(45,259 posts)The wealthy could always get individual plans at whatever price. It's the rest of America who benefits from these reforms. It's for young adults who work in jobs that don't offer health insurance yet, like many small business or food service or temp type jobs. There are a lot of jobs like that everywhere: Uber drivers, bartenders, baristas, people who work for startups, freelance programmers and graphic designers, and many more.
Not everyone wants a traditional office job and there are many types of workers that are needed everywhere. And many work while still going to school or take evening classes.
