Bernie Sanders Flips Out at Chris Cuomo For Asking About 2020: 'It Never Ends'

Source: Mediaite

by Joe DePaolo | 11:11 pm, August 31st, 2017

-snip-

Chris Cuomo found that out on Thursday night when he attempted to guide his conversation with the Vermont Senator in that direction. Sanders just did not want to go there.

“(T)he media never, ever gives up,” Sanders said. “And instead of focusing on real issues, they keep talking about never-ending campaigns.”

Cuomo told Sanders that he wasn’t satisfied with Sanders punting on the question. “It matters who runs,” Cuomo said.

“Of course it matters who runs!” Sanders said. “But we don’t have to have never-ending elections. We just had an election six months ago. It never ends…We never stop elections. People are sick and tired of it.”

I get his frustration but I think he is missing the point that we have probably the worst president in our hostory. And lookong to the future is one of the very small comforts we have regarding that.

when you overly focus on 2020, you end up MISSING the critical mid-term elections and even moreso, the critical state/local elections happening this year and every year up to 2020. Those elections decide state legislatures/governors who will have the say on redistricting of congressional seats.

I get the media not giving enough attention to the mid term candidates though.

thank you Don and Senator Sanders.

I must sound like a broken record at times, shouting a mantra. There will be plenty of time after 2018 to talk and act on the 2020 elections. My focus is on local and state elections in 2018.

We can just skip any media speculation on 2020 along with any video of the monster living in our WH. We can reinforce coverage on the Russia investigation as it is obvious they have their slime ball traitors, sights and sites trained on 2018.

President Obama had accomplished universal health care and "we" missed an opportunity to trumpet the message. :big sigh:

7. Make a vehement denial to the news...

and meanwhile his people are behind the scenes busily setting up the pieces on the chessboard...

But that's nothing new... Regardless of his 2020 plans, Bernie would be a moron to announce anything this early, so I agree it was a bullshit question to ask...

Personally, I'm much more interested in knowing when Bernie plans to join the party full-time, but that is for another thread...

8. That misses the point. It isn't about denying or confirming

It's about the non stop media obsession with political horse races rather than covering actual current issues. We do it to, people are pushing Kamila Harris on DU (who I happen to like and respect also) for President before she's finished a single year in the Senate. But this at least is a discussion board wide open to any and all topics people are interested in with plenty of room for all of it. National media has limited air time and print space. Bernie is right to make this point, and it has nothing to do with whether he or anyone else in open to running in 2020. The time for the media to start focusing on possible candidates for the 2020 presidential election is after the 2018 elections.

That has to be worth something, better than just giving in to the media narrative. Sorry if I misread your meaning your above post.

of "flips out" is quite different..

Title should read - Bernie schools another "reporter"..

note - not a critiscism of the poster, of MEDIA-ite..

"Of course it matters who runs"

How about saving our democracy before its hacked, profited off off and gerrymandered into a two class country.

16. Bernie should have replied "You can go ahead and start calling me 'Mr. President' right now"

And the Bernie should have returned to the discussion at hand.
