Police officer who arrested Utah nurse fired from medic job
Source: WBAY-TV, ABC affiliate in Green Bay, WI
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah police officer caught on video roughly arresting a nurse who refused a patient blood draw has been fired from his part-time paramedic job.
The ambulance company president says Tuesday that Detective Jeff Payne's termination came after Payne said on video that he'd bring transient patients to the hospital to retaliate against nurse Alex Wubbels, who was following hospital policy.
Gold Cross Ambulance President Mike Moffitt says Payne's remarks were very concerning and don't reflect how the company treats people.

(34,661 posts)You are talking about Utah, and in Utah, all women are considered second class persons. Payne will receive a letter of reprimand and most likely a lateral promotion with a raise. Bad Cops do not go away in Utah, they are moved to another City of given a County Sheriff's Deputy job. The ones who lost their jobs committed Felon Offenses that could not be Changed to a misdemeanor and those few cases ended up in Jail.

(34,661 posts)Democratic Mayor, some what Liberal Counsel, but a Police Department that is run like a second rate operation. Scandal after scandal, and nothing changes. Yes,Sam Gil a Democrat, will do his so called investigation and leave it up to Salt Lake City Manager to make the decision. Same Crap just another day in Utah.

(34,661 posts)not in Salt Lake City. There will be a counseling session with someone from the Police Department PR Department and some one from the Hospital and a statement read to the so called Media.
Utah as a whole, suffers from a major Cultural issue and that is Women are considered second class persons and until that changes, there will be more incidents similiar to this.

He's got a screw loose.

(37,648 posts)I think everyone was caught off guard & didn't know what to do. One cop does try to take the nutso cop's arm away from the nurse. And once they got a supervisor cop on the phone, the nutso was ordered to release her.
So it was just him.

(7,627 posts)Used to be, you had police connected to their beat, their neighborhood. They could defuse a situation without having to slam anybody, tase them or shoot them. Now, the emphasis is on compliance and military style training.
If you dont immediatly comply, or worse you have a medical issue or are mentally unstable, you can potentially get shot.
Its a well documented problem. Here is one article on the subject and you can find many.

He sounds like a Trumpster--free to punish, or even leave to die, human beings, in order to get personal satisfaction.
