House Intel subpoenas FBI, DOJ over Trump dossier
Source: The Hill
The House Intelligence Committee subpoenaed the FBI and Department of Justice for documents about a controversial dossier that linked President Trump to Russia.
The committee issued the two identical subpoenas on Aug. 24, requesting that both agencies hand over documents containing information about the dossier, the FBIs relationship to its author and whether the FBI had supported an opposition research project against Trump in the last months of the 2016 presidential campaign, the Washington Examiner reported Tuesday.
The subpoenas set a deadline of Sept. 1 for the documents to be handed over, but it was extended to Sept. 14 after both departments missed the deadline, according to the Examiner.
The panel also issued subpoenas Tuesday to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to appear before the committee to say why they hadnt handed over the documents.

(22,462 posts)It sounds like they are implying the FBI was trying to undermine Trump in the run-up to the election. Considering that House Intelligence Committee doesn't want Trump accused or convicted of anything is this just some tactic they are using to make it seem as if the FBI is not a bipartisan entity and wanted to throw its weight around to undermine Trump?
They also want to know about the FBI's relationship with the author as if the author worked for the FBI to make up things against Trump
Adam Schiff's comments
Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., confirmed the details of the subpoenas, initially reported in the Washington Examiner, during an appearance on MSNBC Tuesday evening. But he also complained that the subpoenas were "uncalled for," accusing Republicans of attempting to "discredit" the author of the dossier "rather than looking into how many of the allegations he wrote about were true."

(19,186 posts)Attack the messenger, ALWAYS. It's never the message, it's the messenger. The GOP has been doing that for decades. That's they're "go-to" tactic in every situation. Look at the presidential election of 2016. They never addressed what Hillary was saying. They never attacked her policies, they attacked HER.
They couldn't care less what's in the Steele dossier, they want to attack Steele. They'll tear Steele apart, Comey apart, the FBI apart, the entire country apart! It doesn't matter to them. They'll tear the country down to ground, but they have to protect their phony baloney jobs. How else are they going to turn America into a fascist state? THEY have to be in power, and anything that upsets the status quo is a blow to fascism here at home. They see it as protecting the Republican "way of life". Screw them! The Republican "way of life" can die a slow, miserable, painful death as far ass I'm concerned. They've totally screwed this country up enough already. We can't afford to let them finish their job.

(19,186 posts)it says we have an AG who doesn't give a hoot about rules and laws and things. Just like that "president" some people claim to support in the U.S. right now.
