Democratic leaders on Thursday clarified that they did not reach a final deal with President Trump on protections for young immigrants protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
"President Trump's tweets are not inconsistent with the agreement reached last night," Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a statement.
The Democratic leaders said there was "no final deal" reached during their meeting Wednesday with the president. But they added they agreed that the president would "support enshrining DACA protections into law, and encourage the House and Senate to act."
"What remains to be negotiated are the details of border security, wth a mutual goal of finalizing all details as soon as possible," the statement said.

(764 posts)That was close it was almost a win for the Democrats in the DACA PR campaign but thank goodness Shumer let the air out of that bag by walking back anything positive that may of came from last nights meeting woth POTUS. <sarcasm off>
Once an individual or group fail on a regular basis its hard to change and I have no doubt old dogs Shumer and Pelosi are more used to failing than making a stand because of their beliefs.
