Trump: People Who Want Privilege of Playing in NFL 'Should Not Be Allowed to Disrespect' Our Flag

Source: Mediaite

by Josh Feldman | 2:21 pm, September 23rd, 2017

President Trump is doubling down on his criticism of football players kneeling during the national anthem in protest, this time saying anyone who wants the “privilege” of playing in the NFL should not be allowed to “disrespect our Great American Flag”:

You're a rich white male who was installed as president by a perfect storm of ignorance, corruption, lying MSM, collusion with a foreign government, etc BUT if you're black and quietly expressing your opinion in what I think is actually a fairly respectful protest you should be fired.

If you're white using torches, intimidation and violence to express your racist beliefs you're one of the "nice people" but if you're black and drop to one knee to quietly protest to during the national anthem you're a "son of a bitch" who should be fired...

But yeah right those double standards don't mean that you're a fascist POS racist. Pigshit!

...but I actually agree with Cheeto on this one.

He's a treasonous lying bastard who doesn't deserve to be president, however he's right about the NFL players disrespecting the flag.

If the players want to make a political statement they can do it when they're not on the clock, in uniform, and on national television. NFL owners and team managers should be fining people that can't follow the rules. Anybody wants to make a political statement, do it on your own time when you're not in uniform. You can stand there for 2 minutes while they play the national anthem.

Anyone who's ever been gainfully employed knows exactly what I mean. While you're working for the man, you don't get to spout off.

Thanks for listening!

I thought each team had its own private owner. If the NFL has rules the players are breaking wouldn't it be up to the league to handle as they see fit?

I'm confused. Of course, I don't watch sports on TV so I guess it could be a government run organization. Maybe? Perhaps? Gawd, I hope not.

I offered two opinions. If the US or the maggot is "the man" to whom you refer then the teams would need to be owned by the US government or Trump himself to make what I quoted above valid.

If "the man" to whom you refer is each team's owner or the NFL then they would be responsible for handling any broken rules as they see fit. It's none of the gawd damned maggot's business.

specifically prohibiting players from symbolically expressing political opinions during games? If so, it's up to the teams or the NFL to deal with those actions. It is NOT up to the president* to encourage the firing of a person who does so. If, in the absence of any such rules, a player got fired just because the president* urged his firing, now we have the government infringing on a person's right to free speech in violation of the First Amendment.

because rules like that bring up freedom of speech, Constitutional issues. What about religious issues? Jehovah's Witnesses do not salute the flag. And they don't get blowtorched for staying seated. Well, they probably do, but MSM declines to do stories about that.

I didn't fly my flag the 8 years bush was in office. I would've but my husband didn't want me to fly it upside down. And damn straight, I'm not flying it while this traitor is in office. There is no reason to pretend things are fine and dandy when they aren't.

It doesn't mean I don't love my country. It means I protest some of the decisions being made that do not reflect my view of America.

Any peon does it they get canned. So they are giving a voice to those who can't. They have power, in that they have talent and money that "the man" wants to use to make profit with. So they want to use this to make a statement.

Also, I don't think there is "a rule" against taking a knee. It is an archaic practice of mixing nationalism and pro-sports anyway. They shouldn't be made to pray just as they shouldn't be made to take part in the anthem if they choose not to.

If they want to add a rule in their contracts and negotiate with that, so be it. I am sure not all teams would add that nonsense and a few of the best players telling them to take out the clause it probably wouldn't stay anyway.

"We were just human beings who saw a need to bring attention to the inequality in our country," Smith said years later, in a documentary on the 1968 Mexico City games produced for HBO. "I don't like the idea of people looking at it as negative. There was nothing but a raised fist in the air and a bowed head, acknowledging the American flag—not symbolizing a hatred for it."

Because if they did, they'd find plenty of fans looking at their cell phones, chatting with their friends, walking to their seats, standing in line for food, etc, and paying absolutely no attention to the national anthem.

I worked on a military base and people, including the active military, used run for the nearest door to get inside before 8AM when the flag was raised accompanied by the Star Spangle Banner so they didn't have to stop on the spot until the anthem was over.
