Trump Claims 'Many People Booed' NFL Players Who Knelt For National Anthem

Source: Mediaite

by Aidan McLaughlin | 8:08 am, September 25th, 2017

President Donald Trump was back tweeting about NFL players Monday morning, claiming “many people booed” those who knelt for the anthem while noting that the issue has “nothing to do with race.”

Trump kicked off the morning with a tweet hailing “NASCAR and its supporters and fans”:

And then, while taking time to allege that a “small percentage” of players engaged in the anthem protest, Trump tweeted that they were booed by fans:

He also claimed the issue is not about race, and that the NFL “must respect” the “Country, Flag and National Anthem”:

Standard deceitful republican-russian propaganda strategy.

The kneeling protest is not about what the Republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief says it's about, it's what the protestors know, and say it's about.

NASCAR vastly over expanded at its height 15 or so years ago. Richmond took out all the seats on the backstretch a few years ago and still can't sell it out.

When Sprint took over the name after Winston couldn't stay on ( the name change didn't help either) they weren't into Wifi yet or at least didn't install it at the tracks OR you had to be a subscriber. Fans could sit at home and get details from their favorite driver's car including listening to the radio communications with the pit but not AT the track. Add this on to the convenience and expense factors, people stopped going. Several shifts of networks and the fact that ESPN barely covers it does don't help either.

Most sports in the US began as legit sports.

NASCAR got it's start in the 1920's, when "rumrunners" who souped up their cars to outrun the cops with illegal liquor started racing against each other.

A massive snowstorm locked down the east coast February 1979. Still mostly only three networks and no other big sport was on in that time of year (this was 1 year before Magic and Bird made the NBA a thing) so a lot of people watched for the first time. The whole race was on TV which was rare AND Yarborough and the Allison brothers got in a fight at the end.

It was the birth of NASCAR as a national sport.

and sitting on the couch at home. Most of the "patriotic" stuff those idiots do like keep American flags on their cars and have flag colored clothing and advertisements and stuff are actually in violation of the US flag code. Most Republicans have let their flags touch the ground, don't fold them properly, and generally don't respect the flag at all.

At any stadium you can see people in the red MAGA hats running to the bar to get happy hour prices during the anthem because prices double once the game starts.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Flag_Code

The false patriotism of Trumptsers is disgusting and shameful

Because Trump crossed a line on Friday, and any challenge to SCOTUS, they would have to side with the first amendment right to protest. Anything else would be unconstitutional.

I think Gorsuch, Alito, Thomas and Roberts are pretty much in the bag for anything orange assface throws their way. Kennedy is the only one who goes against the grain, but only on social issues. On everything else, he ALWAYS, ALWAYS, sides with big $$ and the party. So, no, this going to SCOTUS is probably not a good thing. I have no faith in them at all to do the right thing by the First Amendment.

Anyone can protest all you want.

If you protest in the wrong place you can get arrested.

If you protest violently you'll get arrested for sure.

If you protest at work you're likely to be fired. Try filling your workplace with pro-life banners with aborted fetus pictures on them and see if it's okay to express your right to protest at work.

But you can protest all you want. It's the old expression, if you do the crime, prepare to do the time.

I'd expect that's what the Supreme Court would say.

I don't know how accurate that is.

I watched and it was way more than a small minority that kneeled. Even those that stood linked arm in arm were protesting against him but since they were white, he deliberately misrepresents what they were doing. All across the nation, solidarity was shown to NFL players against the vacuous name calling and ire of the trumpanzee. Of course, I do have to apologize to chimps for comparing them to the orange assface, they have much better manners and morals.
